Pretty much the article says that when the US government builds bridges, tanks, electrical systems, etc. from now on, the steel must be American made steel. The iron ore must come from America too. No Chinese ore, or from any other countries.

Well, this all goes in effect for the trillion dollar infrastructure bill that got passed. I’m sure Biden was only able to put this policy in place though due to the Trump administration winning that trade war against China. But still, good on the Biden-Harris administration for getting this put in place.

I would hope that all US businesses would have follow suit too eventually, such as the automotive industry.

If anyone is educated on steel/iron ore, well feel free to tell me what you know regarding to this policy.

According to google, magnetite is the best quality iron ore, and there is some in Michigan, Minnesota, and California. I don’t know how much though. I don’t know how much China has of that type of ore as well.

There’s also over 3,500 different grades of steel according to Google. Makes you wonder though if USA would be able to make any type grade of steel they’d like to/need to with this policy.

Who said tramp won!! Biden it all by himself.
Well, the steel industry stocks jumped significantly as soon as Trump was elected in 2016. Lots of steel companies had good faith in The Don and the steel industry. Steel industry making comeback after years of decline | Fox News

There was some volatility in the steel mill industry when the trade war started, but I believe Trump won part one of the trade deal, if you look at the pic I posted.

China ended up buying an additional $200 billion dollars of US exports in January 2020. And well guess what, steel was a big issue in this trade debate/war with China.

Coincidentally a bigggg virus then came from China which would end up F’ing with the world economy.

You can't make steel without coal.

Dedication to putting the US coal industry out of business is going to make the production of US steel very difficult (and expensive).
Thanks for the info, man! I didn’t know that..

I wish the news would broadcast that piece of info!

That was my first thought so maybe that will help the coal mining states till natural gas tech starts replacing it.....NG powered blast furnace tech is not cheap either.
