Bail is set so people can get out of jail while awaiting trial and it is a deterrent for flight risks. Not all people
get bail whether they can afford it or not.

Take a drugs dealer, he gets out of jail but not his transporter, so the dealer can always get another transporter, so who is more dangerous?? The big drug dealer or the measly transporter??

The dealers lackey can turn informer
if he doesn't want to stay in jail. The lackey can also chose not to do the bidding of a drug dealer to begin with. Some choices have consequences.

Madoff is in prison for life, where he belongs. Madoff must have been a Republican, he was subject to laws. Madoff got bail and was out free while his trial went on. I am talking before being indicted.

Marc Rich was a major donor to the DNC and tight with the Clinton crime family, and was magically able to get on a plane to Israel despite having no passport. Madoff was a supporter of Michael Bloomberg back when the Blooming idiot pretended to be a Republican, hence he prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. One nation, two VERY different laws.
