Once you turn 18 you're legally an adult. Nobody is responsible for you so if you want to further your education pay for it yourself just like I did.

No one said they weren't adults. European nations ALL have some form of universal education and are leaving the US in the dust.

I have a MS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Michigan. I cared about paying for it. There is a world out there competing with America, for economic power, status, jobs, scientific advancement , etc. I.E. India, China, South Korea, those guys...

And they are heavily investing in the education of their people. If we don't, we will be left behind. We are already importing engineers, scientists, mathematicians, etc. from them. They come here, learn our ways, then go home and set up industries that directly compete with American ones, putting Americans out of jobs. All because they are more educated then their American counter-parts, and that education was heavily subsidized by their respective governments.

Why is this so hard for the right-wing to understand? It boggles my mind.

Need to reduce military to 200k MAX,close all overseas bases and have all military folks stationed HERE where they belong.Let the world handle its own damn problems.

Tuition at all public universities comes to much less than that, around $62.6 billion in 2012. By restructuring the education budget, the cost of attending public universities could easily be brought down to zero. This would also put pressure on private universities to lower their cost in order to be more competitive.

At least for now, however, learning German might be the best financial choice an American high school student can make.
