except what was so heinous about his crime. He left his post and got captured. The army's own investigation found he didn't intend to desert, had no malicious intent and had serious mental issues. it also recommended NO punishment.

The only reason why you folks on the right care at this point is because his parents did a photo-op with Obama.

Before his release, the Right clamored that Obama do more to get him released. Until he did get him released, and then he became the worst traitor since Benedict Arnold.

Instead of some poor kid who would have normally washed out of boot camp but the Army was too desperate for head count to actually use its own system for weeding out guys like Bergdahl and Manning.

Here's the problem with that argument. When you say, "the soldiers", the guy who has made the most noise about Bergdahl is a yardbird know as Josh Korder. Korder himself was discharged from the Army under "other than honorable" circumstances. So I am not as inclined to take his "word for it".
