Comparing abortions to ritual human sacrifice practiced by ancient civilizations is rhetorical nonsense seeking to inflame the visceral passions of current day religionist and zealots, who I think compare to a greater degree to the savage ancients than those who have ever gotten an abortion.

I offer up national health care which is always opposed by repubs, right wingers, etc. It's a proven fact that 40 thousand plus people die each year for lack of health insurance. Republicans will always oppose any type of national health insurance. This guarantees dead men, women and children. That word children, not fetuses. Alive, already born young humans die because of republicans, up to and including uncle ben carson, who also has to oppose national health insurance, or he'll fall from grace with republicans overnight.

Look. I get it. I understand the left platform as it pertains to healthcare. There is great merit to it, but I believe, overall, it is not in the best interest of America.

The problem is you did not do what I did. You did not listen to the rights platform. You simply listened to the hyperbole and spin. You did not try to understand why the right is against it....and therefore you did not have the advantage of comparing the pros and cons of both...as I did.

Do you truly believe that the right does not care about people not being able to get healthcare for their children? Do you truly believe the right wants the elderly to die quickly?

Conservative star and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson says America had no right criticizing ancient "heathen" civilizations for practicing human sacrifice because it is doing the same thing through legal abortion.

Carson made the comments in a recent interview on DoveTV in response to host Perry Atkinson who speculated that if America could just end abortion then "all of the other things that God would be interested in helping us with would fall into alignment."

"It's interesting," Carson replied, "that we sit around and call other ancient civilizations 'heathen' because of human sacrifice, but aren't we actually guilty of the same thing?

There is an example of the problem.

To you, abortion has nothing to do with religion. IO respect that. To me, it, too has nothing to do with religion. I am not overly religious.

However, to the religious right, abortion is directly related to their belief. They do not believe in killing an unborn child and they believe conception is when life begins.

I disagree, but I respect it. I will never frown on one who is against abortion for religious reasons.

But I am pro choice non the less.
