We are supposed to hit the high 30's also, but won't be enough to melt a foot on the ground.
The one downside of early snow is it makes it tougher for the lakes to form good ice for fishing. Some brave/crazy souls are out fishing already though.

You know, last spring one of my former bosses, a guy in his 40's, with like 5 kids, went ice fishing. No lifejacket and temps had been above freezing for over 10 days, he and his brother in law both went into the lake, and Jared never survived. I couldn't believe he was out on the ice in the first place. It was just crazy stupid.

My handsome boy only has three legs now, after a couple of surgeries to remove his recurring cancer on his bottom hindlimb. Third time it came back she had to take the leg. But he still likes to frolic in it. He gets around pretty good for a 110lb tripaw, too.

By January big pickups pull out on the lakes towing 20ft ice houses that rival a rv trailer camper. Even with 3 feet of ice that would make me nervous.
I still use my snowmobile to pull a portable fish house out.
Not risking my pickup.

It's very pleasant waking up to the peace and serenity of a good snow covered landscape this morning. It especially pops on the pines. Though the other trees have their own apeal whe nblanketd in just the right kind of snow. Which it appears to be. Tha good, wet but fluffy stuff. I love it. The cardinals and a bunch of the other bird community are out there under the feeders and tucked under the branches. They really pop, too. The Blue Jays are out there calling for their peanuts. So I guess I'll head out there and enjoy their company for a bit. It's a fair trade.

Heck. I think I'm gonna turn this bad juju off and have some hot tea and bathe in it fro the kitchen window table. And I never have hot tea...
That's a very sweet post.
I wish I could agree with you ... but I can't.
We have four inches of fresh snow on the ground here and bright sun glinting off the sun and temperatures near zero.
I hate snow.
I hate cold weather.
I hate bright sun glinting off the snow. It bothers my eyes.
Bah.
Humbug.
When does Spring get here?

I'm sure it's pretty but as far as I'm concerned "snow" is one of those 4 letter words your mama told you not to say when you were a kid.

/—-/ Three inches of global warming by me.

We got about 5 inches here on The Island and it’s still snowing!

Damn!

It's happening all around you. Open your eyes.

Yeah it is all that white stuff that the IPPC said would be less and Less and Less over time yet 24 years later there is no change in the snowfall coverage.

When does Spring get here?

Being close to the Chesapeake Bay, normally all we get here is ice and freezing rain versus the snow storms that occur just ten miles or so north. For some reason that I have not yet figured, the bay always messes up the chance of actual snow here.

Though we have had proper blizzards there and about over the years, but just rarely.

So I'll take it while I can get it. Is only about 5 or 6 inches or so, all said and done.

I just cleared the walks and driveway and carried some good, cured cherry wood in. Now it's chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese time.

But, yeah, you sound like my mom. She hates it, too. I was talking to her the other day and I think they're up to around 20 inches or so thus far. That's in Iowa.

Does it melt? ... then what's the problem? ...

What do you do if it doesn't melt? ... Yakama, Washington State, May 1980 ...

Got snow every where but where I actually plow and live. Wanted to go to the city to see grandchildren but wanted to stay and make some extra cash. No snow for me to plow. No money to be made. Week end is over. No grandchildren seen. F Ed up all around.

15th post
People just dont know that snow shouldnt slow one down on the roads. They are bad people.

Well, now, three days later, this is bullshit, all of that snow is still frozen to the ground and everything. And cold as ****.
