But yet both the debt and deficit are increasing historically, and during such a steady economy? I thought Republicans were the party of fiscal responsibility and not the spendthrifts they appear to be. What gives?

There are none so blind as those who will not see, Blind Boo. President Trump had the monumental task of rebuilding the American Military that President Obama tore apart bit by bit for eight years. If the former president continues his chest thumping around the world and belittling the sitting president who has a different style of leadership, he will possibly go down as being an enemy of the state. IOW, he's invested in something other than the good of the nation when he muckrakes President Trump and any member of his family, staff, or Cabinet member.

The task of protecting the American people has pretty much been accomplished now, except for putting up a wall that will keep deadly opiates away from young Americans. Some are so strong they take away their users' lives or render them so confused they lose all perspectives and can harm themselves or others or get shot for trespassing on a stranger's home which could be in a high-crimes neighborhoods by someone whose family has been egregiously threatened.

I remember it well. She--it GW gave us a couple of 300 dollar checks that year too. Of course the energy bill was so high that summer it blew away like the cool air leaves the room when the damn kids leave that door open......"Hey, you think we're tryin to air condition Texas, ya little Brats!"

But the numbers are in and of course it was the riches who got most of the benefits of those tax cuts.

The American military was not tore apart bit by bit. The decreased spending was due to the winding down of combat operations and troops built up during the Bushes Middle East Wars. In fact President Obama increased military spending several times during his two terms.

Trumpybears' imaginary wall will not thwart the product from reaching the market. Most of it is transported across the highway, not packed across the border by foot. Americans would be better served with a regulated marked where it's the governments responsibility is to check for purity of the product and to offer guidelines for its safe use. But the fascist policy of interdiction and incarceration have been drummed into the heads of the pliable public for so long that such a solution sounds crazy, doesn't it?

Trump has tried to address it, but congress has different ideas.
It was Trump whom we are talking about.....right?

"President Trump sent Congress on Monday a record $4.75 trillion budget plan that calls for increased military spending and sharp cuts to domestic programs like education and environmental protection for the 2020 fiscal year.

"Mr. Trump’s budget, the largest in federal history, includes a nearly 5 percent increase in military spending — which is more than the Pentagon had asked for — and an additional $8.6 billion for construction of a wall along the border with Mexico. It also contains what White House officials called a total of $1.9 trillion in cost savings from mandatory safety-net programs, like Medicaid and Medicare, the federal health care programs for the elderly and the poor."

Trump Proposes a Record $4.75 Trillion Budget

The total and complete failure of the Obama Presicency

"Obama’s presidency often seemed fueled by his ego and his enjoyment of the perks of the position. The Obama family frequently took lavish vacations, and Michelle Obama had a ridiculously large staff of aides. President Trump, however, donates his presidential salary, and his net worth has actually gone down since becoming president. Most importantly, Obama’s personal gain over his two terms stands in stark contrast to the millions of Americans who suffered under his policies."

"Obama also claimed he surrounded himself with people who disagreed with him -- and that's a huge whopper that even Obama loyalists don’t agree with. Former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod said this in 2013: “I think that there is an issue with what people told the president, and I think that there is an instinct to tell the president what he wants to hear.” Even Obama-loving Chris Matthews agreed that Obama thought he was right about everything because he only received advice from yes-men. “The fact that this president is getting advice from people that say, ‘You’re always right,’ is the problem. He’s got too many sycophants around him telling him, ‘All you have to keep doing is what you’re doing.'”"

Obama's legacy.....Barack Obama Is Still Trying To Rewrite His Presidential Legacy

Obama is a decent human being, Trump is an asshole.
Decent former US Presidents do not criticize their successors. President and Mrs. Obama have criticized President Trump over a dozen times. The reason it is unfair is that the former presidents do not have the same information that was furnished them during their stay, and most of them know decisions are made on aggressive events by a foreign government against the American people. It's not worth the risk for a former president to call up his buds on the press for an attack against a predecessor's character. Other former presidents know this and stick with the protocol of silence. Maybe being an American president didn't mean anything to President Obama, because an engaged American would contact him privately on disagreements if they were important enough.

The so-called president has disregarded the norms for over two years now. Odd that the Trumpflakes still expect Trumpybear to be treated with the normal respect that used to be reserved for the President of the United States. Funny (in a WTF sort of way) actually.

Under Obama, we went from being #1 militarily to being #4. Go hide if you want to. I don't care.

What "norms" are you talking about? That he doesn't lay back and play dead while his detractors in Congress are getting pinnochios right and left by WaPo for lying their asses off? Ocasio-Cortez fact-checked for 'highly misleading' claim on Trump funding for opioid emergency

By what measure do you think we are only the 4th strongest military.

For starters his demeaning character assassinations throughout his campaign.

Obama's bad relationship with the Military:

It is high time we heard from our military commanders. Our men and women in uniform are being humiliated, but the Pentagon brass sits mute. The administration's inability to “degrade and destroy ISIS,” or even to “contain” the terror plague, as President Obama so inappropriately claimed just last Friday, is an embarrassment.

While inept guidance from Obama and his shrinking circle of confidants has caused headline-worthy failures in Syria, pushback from military commanders has been silenced by a distrustful White House that’s jealous of control and willing to penalize those who stray from the Oval Office narrative. Wood starkly lays out some of the shortfalls in readiness including:

The U.S. Air Force is 24 percent short of the fighters it needs. It is also short 1,000 pilots and over 3,000 maintainers. Only four of its 32 combat-coded squadrons are ready to execute all wartime missions.

The Marine Corps “is insufficiently manned, trained and equipped across the depth of the force to operate in an ever-evolving operational environment,” according to Gen. Glenn Walters, assistant commandant of the Marine Corps. Only 41 percent of the Corps’ aviation platforms are considered flyable.

At only 276 combatants, the Navy has two-thirds the ships it did near the end of the Cold War. It now has the smallest battle fleet since before World War I. Of its 18 classes of ships, only seven are currently in production. The recent spate of ship collisions and a grounding imply problems in basic ship-handling skills.

Currently, of the Army’s 31 brigade combat teams only three would be available to immediately deploy to a conflict. As recently as 2012, the Army had 45 brigade combat teams and nearly the entire Army was involved in the rotational base supporting combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

These military shortfalls are particularly troubling given the deployment of U.S. troops across the globe and engagement in multiple combat theaters simultaneously. These include thousands of troops in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, along with advisory missions in dozens of other countries.

President Donald Trump also appeared to show some frustration in a recent meeting with military leaders telling them he need options “at a much faster pace” when asked.

The massive gap in readiness and immediate capability of the military has its roots in the 2011 Budget Control Act signed by President Barack Obama. “The BCA put budget caps on discretionary spending for 10 years, ending in 2021, and established a 12-member congressional “supercommittee” to find at least $1.2 trillion in additional savings over that same 10-year window,” Republican Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas explained in a recent WSJ op-ed.

Army missile defense has atrophied. Here’s what is happening to beef it up

As the Army looks to its near future, senior leaders see clearly that they can no longer count on constant air superiority. To meet that growing vulnerability, they’ve been growing and training up their air missile defense.

At the Association of the U.S. Army’s AMD conference today, commanders discussed efforts that are underway to use missile defense at their level in the future multi-domain operations that the Army expects to encounter where air, land, sea, cyber and space will all be contested.

Thomas Karako, director of the Missile Defense Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, pointed to how the air missile defense that the Army focuses on has been practically overlooked in the recent Missile Defense Review.

“Air defense, particularly force defense … is a giant vulnerability,” Karako said. More here: Army missile defense has atrophied. Here’s what is happening to beef it up
"More than half of troops surveyed in the latest Military Times/Institute for Veterans and Military Families poll said they have an unfavorable opinion of Obama and his two-terms leading the military. About 36 percent said they approve of his job as commander in chief."

"Their complaints include the president’s decision to decrease military personnel (71 percent think it should be higher), and his lack of focus on the biggest dangers facing America (64 percent say China represents a significant threat to the U.S.)

Thanks, Meister. I heard a whole lot about the fall of our military makeup a few weeks back, but I couldn't find the article that said we fell from #1 to #4, so until I do, it's just jabberwocky with a bit of a concern on my part. More recently, I heard the Russians were bragging about having a new offensive bird that we cannot track with the equipment we presently have. I couldn't find that article, either, but it's out there somewhere.

Tearing down is easy. What the fuck has your orange buddy actually done? Besides ballooning the deficit & trashing the environment & pissing off all our allies?
/——/ He’s driven the democRATs stark raving mad.
Because we love our country. We don't want it destroyed by the likes of you & that fat assed moron Trump.

Queen dyke could have fixed everything. We would be in a war by now.

Based on what? War with whom?

Nah. Your right. She would have just given everyone whatever they wanted to line their pockets, and set her and pervy Bill up when she left office. And probably deplete the military further. She handled Benghazi so well. We would be targets for any country looking to get rid of us. You do remember 911.

Again, you have nothing to back your statements.

I see you are still sofa king stupid you blame Benghazi on Hillary.

Russia Will Deploy New Hypersonic Missile Systems In 2019, Putin Says

Russian President Vladimir Putin says a new hypersonic missile system that he says can evade U.S. ballistic missile defenses will be deployed in 2019 as part of Russia's focus on advancing its military weaponry.

The Avangard weapon system is built around a hypersonic glide vehicle that takes an elusive path toward its target — even as it travels at more than 20 times the speed of sound, according to a report by state-owned Vesti TV.

We do need to stay ahead of the curve.

That is quite an accomplishment from Trump even with the adversity he faces from both sides of the isle.

He parlayed his intersectionality
Into a cult of personality
And what he did to our country is still quite scary
