She resembles my mother-in-law, who is East Indian Guyanese.

That is interesting, but I would have thought that guyanese are black or half black. But maybe some are pure east indians. I thought east indians mixed with blacks in guyanese? She doesnt look black to me.

That is interesting, but I would have thought that guyanese are black or half black. But maybe some are pure east indians. I thought east indians mixed with blacks in guyanese? She doesnt look black to me.

My wife's mother, along with the rest of her Guyanese family, are indeed pure Indians—Hindus. They owned a dairy farm in Guyana up to the 1970's when the government took over from the British and forced them into the city. Frankly, my mother-in-law and all of her people have a deep fear of black folks from that part of the world, due to the political violence they suffered before coming to the United States.
