Axing Jimmy Kimmel Is Government Suppression of Political Speech!

Anyone notice that the left are so worried about Free Speech right after they murdered someone to stop his Free Speech? Kimmel is alive and can say anything he wants today. Kirk can't. Kimmel still has Free Speech, Kirk doesn't. The left is the real danger to free speech today, and has been for almost a decade.

"They" is Tyler Robinson who has had no comment about the topic of this thread.

"They" are not people in this thread talking about corrupt suppression of free speech that you are justifying here.

Longer than that, for sure.

I'm the same. You should not get threatened by the government for criticizing the government. It's literally unconstitutional.
He wasn’t fired for that. He lied about the assassination of Charlie Kirk

COVID-19 MISINFORMATION on social media platform, which had very tangible public healthcare outcomes.
Except that wasn't what Zuckerberg said. And lots of the censured material turns out to be correct. Biden also had him censure jokes about covid and the lockdowns. You really need to include better media sources. Here's CNN, for gawd's sake.

CNN —
Mark Zuckerberg, chairman and CEO of the social media company Meta, said in a letter to the House Judiciary committee on Monday that his teams were “pressured” by the Biden White House to censor some content around the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” Zuckerberg said.

In his letter to the judiciary committee, Zuckerberg said the pressure he felt in 2021 was “wrong” and he came to “regret” that his company, the parent of Facebook and Instagram, was not more outspoken. Zuckerberg added that with the “benefit of hindsight and new information” there were decisions made in 2021 that wouldn’t be made today.

“Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction – and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again,” Zuckerberg wrote.

Zuckerberg in the letter also said the FBI warned his company about potential Russian disinformation around Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian firm Burisma affecting the 2020 election.

Thats not the nearly the same as explicit regulatory threats, not nearly the same as holding hostage big merger decisions, not nearly the same as going after political opposition.
It's censuring. So now you admit you approve of the govt pressuring private companies to censure unfriendly to the govt voices. Got it.

Facebook stopped co-operating on Covid misinformation and you know what Biden admin did? Nothing, which is exactly what they didn't-threaten.
Ya, at least a year after the illegal fake vaccine mandate that the authoritarian Biden enacted and when covid had quieted down. 🙄

Except that wasn't what Zuckerberg said.

...You alright? Your own quote says Zuckerberg said it was specifically about Covid-19 content.

Thats obviously very different than going after accounts that posted general political opposition.

Here is what happened:
1. Nexstar and Sinclair said they would not broadcast Kimmel anymore.
2. Disney owns ABC, and made the business decision to can Kimmel
3. The FCC "advice" to Disney was not a violation of ABC's 1st amendment rights
4. If Disney wanted to keep Kimmel, say he made money instead of losing money, and the FCC took any action to punish Disney or ABC, the courts would make the FCC lose, protecting their 1st Amendment rights against the government, every time.

Yet Trump got CBS to drop Colbert, with the highest ranking late-nite show.

Weekly Ratings: Colbert Beats Fallon and Kimmel Combined
He did not... hey were you shouting free speech when Rosann Barr got fired?.... just curious...

Someone has to serve the segment of the public that believes killing repubs is a good idea

Kimmel can start a podcast and be his own network
None of these libs said a thing when Roseanne Barr got fired...

The difference is where the decision came from.

ODonnell's decision came from her employer.
Kimmel's decision came from the government. With the FCC, and the President putting pressure on the employer.

Bullshit... The network has been looking for a reason to dump blackface Jimmy Kimmel for a long time now...

All she said is she supports Trump's campaign... and got canned... so your complaints today are just TDS based....

I think the soybean farmers would have done the same if they could in retrospect.
