I mean is there any more accurate measure of the actual impact of gas prices day to day on the average consumer? People know what they're shelling out of their wallet at the pump regardless of what's printed and government approved propaganda sheets.

It’s actually what a president doesn’t do that impacts gas prices moving lower. When a president pursues policies that reduces regulations, restrictions, and taxes for domestic energy companies, you will see lower gas prices by comparison.

State, local and Federal taxation at the gas pump also changes frequently and usually in the upward direction.
Trump had everything to do with it, that’s why the avg is as low as it was when he was last president

Trump 45 policy kept prices from increasing due to his removing of restrictions that were put in place by Obama and reimposed by Biden.
Fracking, which Obama opposed but couldn’t prevent because the operations were preexisting, brought prices down during Obama’s last two years.
Trump 47 policies of once again removing restrictions put in place by anti-American democrat Marxists, have prevented prices from increasing, though they have not dropped as drastically as expected. Inflation, due to democrat Covid money printing, has some to do with that.
