An Irish man with an extensive criminal history has been deported from Australia.

The man arrived in Dublin on Thursday night, according to reports.

He entered Australia on a working holiday visa in January 2013 but failed on arrival to declare his criminal past, which included possession of drugs and bomb-making material.

“Australia will not be a destination for criminals to avoid charges in other countries,” Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said in a statement on Friday.
