Assisted Suicide rate in Canada is 4.45 times the gun suicide rate in the U.S....but......guns?

I have been here long enough to understand what you will criticize and what you won't.

But, I am curious if you now understand that when people decide to kill themselves they will do it regardless of possessing a gun or not.
I have been here long enough to understand what

I very much doubt that.

But, I am curious if you now understand that

there's absolutely nothing about which you could possibly enlighten me.

I'm done. If you wish to discuss assisted suicide have it at. There is a thread here somewhere about it.

If you wish to discuss the role of firearms in suicides. let's go.
Review the title and OP...

If there is something else on your mind, start a thread.

I did.. Review my post with the OP starter who agreed with my assessment of what the thread was about.

Here ya go:
I am damn certain the purpose of this thread was to point out to the gunophobes that whether or not people have a gun they will find a way to kill themselves.

And his reply:
Yep........and then it was distracted by the assisted suicide discussion....I also started a discussion in the Canada thread for that, since this thread was more to deal with the anti-gun extremists who try to use suicide to attack gun ownership.....

Now, take you own advice and start a thread.

Bye

He apparently takes one stands on that.

However, as I am possessed of reading skills superior to both of you, I decline to hold myself responsible for the hash you two make of the plain meaning of his words.

You are obviously unaware of how the Canadian physician assisted death law has gone off the rails in the last year or two...

Listen, having watched my father wither away in pain form cancer, and having contemplated expediting his transition by my own hand, I am 100% behind a person's right to a dignified death and their right to choose when, when their end is beyond doubt. But the criteria now being accepted by the Canadian government is in some cases appalling.
Sure, post it.

Yea....thanks

Same old, same old.

"You cannot choose to die with dignity, because the gubmint will kill everyone."
Perhaps, instead of making ridiculous assumptions, you should read what I've written in the trhead, and respond to it in a thoughtful manner. :)

Yeah....it does....left wing, atheist, socialists have murdered over 200 million innocent people since 1917.............

It will be....likely to the point that pressure will be applied, incentives will be created......die or have your benefits cut dramatically.......the left will come up with all kinds of ways to get people to "volunter," to die.....

The left sees the movie "Soylent Green," as a guide, not a warning....
Liberals, not the left (the left is a tiny & powerless group), but the concern is a valid one.

Canadians get to kill their pesky annoying elderly relatives and call it "assisted suicide". Ain't you older folks glad you live in the USA?

Whenever the anti-gun extremists try to use numbers to tell us how dangerous guns are in the hands of people who do not use their guns for crime......they lie. They combine the gun suicide rate to the gun murder rate, because that is the only way to elevate the gun murder rate.....so they lie....

Then, when called out, and then called out on the fact that other countries have higher suicide rates than we do......they start blubbering......

Now we know that Canadians are allowing the government to kill them at higher rates than gun suicide in this country...

While there were about 3,839 suicides per year in Canada in 2020, there were 13,500 assisted suicides in Canada in 2022. With a population of about 38.25 million people, that implies an assisted suicide rate of 35.294 per 100,000 people. The total suicide rate is about 45.

The assisted suicide rate in Canada in 2022 is about 4.45 times the firearms suicide rate in the US in 2021 (the latest year for both numbers). Even if you take Canada’s assisted suicide rate in 2021, when the program was ramping up, there were 10,500 assisted suicides, for a rate of 27.5 per 100,000 people. That is 3.46 times the US firearm suicide rate.

When the statistics Canada data on suicides comes out for 2021 and 2022, it will be interesting to see if suicides in Canada decline as the assisted suicide rate increases.

Apparently, some of the people who are opting for assisted suicide are those who aren’t getting the medical care that they need in Canada.

But.....they tell us guns make suicide easier......

What they don't want to understand, government is again killing more people than guns do when it comes to suicide....

And on another topic.......

Assisted suicide in Canada is easier to get than their healthcare.........
It's called, culling the herd.
