IMO, the sniper mount seemed to be looking directly at the roof top the shooter was on before he fired. It implies they were allowing him to shoot and then they took him out. I can’t see that video any other way

It's a pretty safe assumption. The shots are all of the same volume and sound, on the videos. Except for one. And we know where THAT shot went: Into the shooter's head.
