Artificial intelligence could replace humans in four key industries and leave billions without jobs, expert reveals

I’m all for bringing those jobs back as well. I don’t want the Government involved in these issues; but we may reach a point where that is necessary.

If outsourcing and automation reach a point where they are severely impacting our nation there may need to be some legislation forcing these jobs back to the USA, then back to human beings.

That point would be now. Most factories had some level of automation that have cost people jobs. The automation we have already put in factories has destroyed millions of good paying jobs. The ones that built the world's biggest middle class.

Walmart has automated checkouts. No one likes them. But every time I go into a Walmart there is a line for the Self-Checkout. That same system will come to every department store and grocery store in the country. Now is the time to stop it.

because you do want legal immigration to continue, to mix the cultures and bloodlines of Humanity. to prevent wars

I DO want legal immigration? That’s news to me. Maybe a very minimal amount of immigration, but not for people who are going to need handouts. Only for folks who can support themselves and want to become ANERICAN, not turn America into wherever they came from.

I fully agree. It should have been confronted several decades ago.

biggest middle class? and what about the EU then? 800 million middle classers?

over here we're more moderate and progressive (in Europe).. we adopt 'the new' faster than people like you (ultra-conservatives).

Now I am an ultra-conservative?

ah, nationalism.
it has it's pros, and it's cons, just like anything else.

i'll let it all slide and continue to exist of course, so long as it doesn't make 100% power grabs (revolutions or full scale coup d'etats).

When prices come down due to the automation, the people will overlook the loss of jobs. To them, those are just numbers. Whereas their ability to have what they want and need is real.

yeah, in my view you are.
maybe by your definition you're not.
it sounds like you disagree, and i'll accept that as a fact too.

I am, and have been, predicting that the future holds socialism for everyone. AI and automation is one of the forces that will bring that to bear.

I am not saying it will happen soon. Most likely not in our lifetime. Nor am I saying that I am in favor of it. Just discussing that it will happen.

have you heard of the quite-international 'basic income' movement (that is not to be harmed this decade, on pain of having suffer my wrath)?
they're interesting.
and will remain so, if they don't end up corrupting themselves like all political movements before them ended up doing.. ;)

AI doesn't need to be managed or else it lacks the I
even for a computer, time constraints and disk read speeds and RAM sizes, create real impossibilities-constraints for any hardware platform it's run on, whether that be with or without legs, with or with out aerial rotors. ;)

so they're gonna need managers! :D

People forget what Artificial Intelligence is.
It is not a sentient, self-aware, or a thinking computer.

Artificial Intelligence is just a human created simulation that slightly approximates or appears to be similar to human skill levels.
But in reality is all just hard coded decisions choices made ahead of time.
There is absolutely no flexibility or nuance, and can only do what the programmer predicted you would want.

Artificial Intelligence is only useful in removing mundane and repetitive tasks from bothering humans.
It can never be used for anything remotely creative, new, complex, or requiring imagination at all.

The greatest risk is if people start believing this AI myth and let computers make choices computers are totally incompetent to do, like drive cars or handle 911 calls.
People have to remember that computers do not and can not ever think or feel.
They just spit out whatever programmers put in, and nothing else is remotely possible.

AI doesn't need to be managed or else it lacks the I

AI absolutely needs very close management, because the only intelligence is presumptions made by programmers ahead of time, and they can and will be way wrong, often.

Automation has never reduced jobs.
All it has done is increased the number of items we can afford to actually have.
Automation creates more jobs, by making more products, that still have some steps that require humans.
Like sales, repair, packaging, etc.

Yes, automation will increase startup costs, thus requiring socialism.

Right up until we point out to them that their taxes have gone up exponentially to pay for all the unemployed people’s welfare, SNAP, etc…
