Are YOU getting old "gracefully"?

I am not. I hate it, it sucks, I despise it, and people tend to get pissed off with me a lot because I keep having to fucking EXPLAIN that I can't do some things I used to do anymore BECAUSE of my body falling apart and not being able to do all the things I used to do.
It's not that I hate getting older, I hate what it brings.........pain, suffering, medical problems, expenses that eat up all of your money, etc..... And I am NOT taking it well at all.
How are YOU taking getting older????

I dislike it but there is very little I can do about it.

My best friend once said to me DECADES ago (which is probably why I gave her a sideways look since we were both fairly attractive 30 somethings)

"to hell with aging gracefully, I'm going kicking & screaming"

With each passing day, I can more appreciate & understand her sentiment, may she rest in peace...

It's unfortunate that I am having health issues that I am not having properly addressed in my police state because I look much younger on the exterior.

I can only pray and try to do my own research in the hope I can find a cure. It's difficult living in a nation in which an 8-9 hour wait is almost customary and we lose health clinics and hospitals frequently.

I have been an avid exerciser for my whole adult life, and with a few exceptions I have been able to slow down the aging process - I'm 75 - but there are a few physical issues that I never expected, and they are irritating. I was a runner for 35 years but I've never had any significant issues with my knees or hips, but my FEET are a constant irritation. They just hurt when I'm on my feet for a long time. I can't walk the golf course anymore. If I try to walk nine holes I'm in excruciating pain long before I finish. 18 is out of the question.

The sports I play constantly remind me of my increasing decrepitude. Fifteen years ago I was driving the golf ball 250 yards, now I'm pulling out my driver on 175 yard par 3's. I bowling toss used to be 15mph (not fast by any measure), and now I'm down to about 11-1/2 (although my scores haven't deteriorated. My weightlifting is now limited by how much pain I'm willing to endure, and of course my strength deteriorates at the same time.

Now I have a problem with one of my eyes. I get an injection every 6-8 weeks so that it won't get any worse - improvement doesn't seem to be on the table.

I take 9 pills a day just to keep from...I don't know...dying.

This is not graceful. Thankfully, most of it is not visible. I don't look a day over 74,

Someone poked you in the eye and I wonder why. Hah!

I have several issues with getting older. The most annoying is, sorry. the change in bowel movements and other low flow urinary issues. Anybody else?

people tend to get pissed off with me a lot because I keep having to fucking EXPLAIN that I can't do some things I used to do anymore

That's the one thing I will not tolerate...I've cut a few people out of my life because of that one! Wont speak to them any more.

Other than that...I'm still having fun

As long as I'm strong enough to walk a mile & a half in 30 minutes and mow my lawn (2.5 hours)...I'm good!

Then I know I certainly have enough vitality to go fishing...and THAT is what life is all about! FISHING! :D

I'm 67 and have arthritis in my hips possibly induced by 20 years of running marathons. I'm probably 2 or 3 years away from hip replacements but other than that I'm doing OK physically. I do a 2 mile loop where I alternate walking and short 1 minute runs to elevate heart rate. A simple beginner yoga stretching routine, bar hangs, cheater chin ups, light weights. Golf and music occupies much of my day keeps me enjoying retirement.

Well, I'm not having any of those issues yet, but I definitely ain't as limber as I used to be and I have plenty of aches and pains.

Yeah, I try to keep going on my own, but it seems the more I go, the more it wears me down, and the less I can go.

I used to love to walk around the block a couple times during the summer, now I can barely make it to my car without passing out or have my knees give out and fall on my fucking face.

I'm trying to stay away from the wheelchair option for as long as I possibly can, but it's creeping up on me fast.

I'd like to buy one of those 4 wheeled, standup electric scooters so I could at least be outside again during the summer, but the one I need for my size and weight cost around $5000.00. I aint got that.

In the past 6 months I've been to a bone specialist, vascular specialist, joint specialist, foot specialist........and they all claim they haven't found anything except arthritis in my knees.

I have one specialist left, which is a neurologist. But I won't be seeing them for two more months, as I have some other stuff I need to buy before I can save up money for more specialist bills.

I'm probably 2 or 3 years away from hip replacements

Try glucosamine/condroiten (Osteobiflex).

It lubricates the joints...did me a world of good...but you need to take it for about 3 months before it starts working.

Also...DON'T take it if you are allergic to shell fish (shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, etc) or if you have any form of diabetes.

Vitamin B-6 helps alot if it's tendon or ligament problems (like carpel tunnel).

We have a bunch of old guys with scooters tied up the sidewalks, and all I can say is "more power to youse guys."

I can barely make it to my car without passing out or have my knees give out and fall on my fucking face.

That was me right after heart surgery. I had a rough time walking around the house. When that got easy I kept adding to it. Put a chair in the back yard so I could do a lap inside the fence...sit for a minute...then walk another lap.

Once I could do 5 laps without sitting down I went out & walked a blok out & a block back...kept making it longer & longer until I could make it a mile & a half.
