I don't know why it's so hard to talk to our kids. The best way to start is to

Pry the ear buds outta their skull.

ask them what they think about this or that.

"You're gettin up at 7 to mow the lawn. What do you think about that?"

Parents can then assess their knowledge and attitudes and build from there.

They know more about their phones than the folks that make the phones and they know where the fridge is. I'm sure there is a career in there.

For example, the best way to begin the "sex talk" is to ask your kids what they know about it and

Yep. Now that "news" and "information" is essentially tailored to every individual, many people only get the stuff they want to get, and they don't search any contrary info out. Intellectual curiosity is dead for many. Critical thinking is dead for many.

And a lot of people are making a very good living taking advantage of that.
