Of course if you're in a car accident or something...then what? If you are born with birth defects....then what? If you get pregnant and have the kid...you may want insurance to soften the financial blow...
Most people will want to give it some thought if they have kids and they have that pesky habit of losing teeth, having to get braces, cleanings, etc... insurance is pretty important.
Currently, the GOP is taking your view..."just don't get sick and you won't need insurance."
It's a brazenly stupid philosophy but that is what they're doing.
The Pub party has too many RINO's for me. The Dem party is too corrupt for me. The Libertarian party is too spaced out for me. the Constitution party is pretty level headed but can't even hit the ball let alone get to 1st base. I will remain an uncommitted independent no doubt.

Don't misunderstand. If people took better care of their health all costs will come down; health insurance and healthcare itself. Look at it this way. If people took better care of their vehicles and drove safely the costs of maintenance and insurance would come down. This isn't rocket science. By not doing these things people are actually inviting high costs. Not too bright.

I remember in high school during the late 70's/early 80's discussing the importance of voting and even then we mostly settled on the idea that voting just validates a corrupt system. I still think this is valid today, but the way the democrap party has evolved scares me and I think voting for the GOP is the only way to prevent them from ever gaining enough power to completely FUBAR the country. The worst thing that could ever happen to this country is that one party completely dominates. We need more parties, perhaps 50 more.

I am Neither. The Democrats are insane cultists who reject basic biology while they put the United States in direct threat of invasion due to their love of illegal immigrants. The Democrats love big government and government overreach to strengthen the power of the government which is something I am strongly opposed to. I will never forgive them for the lockdowns, mask mandates, and the segregationist policies that occurred under the Biden Administration.
The Republicans at least believe in basic biology however most of them are loyal to foreign nations and want the entire US policy to revolve around funding and supporting Israel, cloaked in a cheap "America is Great" mentality. At least Republicans want to have a strong border, but other than that there isn't much saving grace. A lot of Republicans believe in the dollar store equivalent of Christianity (evangelicalism), the presentation of their policies and beliefs is very corporate, fake, and shallow. Republicans don't care about healthcare, they exist to serve their donor classes. Democrats pretend to care about Healthcare, but really they don't, their entire thought process is victim mentality and weaponized empathy.
I refuse to identify with either of them. Both of them are horrid. I want to see actual Fiscal Conservatism, depowering the Federal Government, and actually putting the citizens first. What both of them have in common is personality over substance, and both of them actively make life worse for everyone.

I like to gather as many facts as I can into the narrative. The gorilla in the room is the fact that people don't give a shit about their own health, that someone else is responsible for it. The whole issue turns on that fact.
