Zone1 Are we seeing the signs of the times before the coming of Christ?

(Shhh! Don't interrupt. They're trying to validate their religion. 😌)

No need to validate it. All one has to do is have eyes to see and ears to hear, that the overall trajectory of this world is exactly what the Bible prophesied. You may not see it now, but you will, eventually. Mark my words.

Thank you for that.

Why does it seem like so many religious people are almost hoping for the world to end?
The PLANET won't end, but I pray DAILY that this Evil Age end.

Just because YOU are comfy NOW doesn't mean the system should be prolonged

This world is EVIL -- NOT GOOD, and the sooner He comes and ends the madness, all Creation will rejoice to see the end of the Age of Man

No, superstitious people have always believed that the "end times" were upon them. People in the Dark Ages believed the end times would occur during the year 1,000 AD.
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

"At an hour he is not aware of" is key here.
Three things:
1. The Christian must live as though THIS is the hour
2. He gave us signs. As we begin to see those signs, we know the hour is coming.
3. Even if He doesn't return in your lifetime, the day you die, that hour has come, and you have no guarantees you'll be here tomorrow

Many natural disasters seem to have increased in the world. Check out this video:

What are your thoughts regarding these things? Are we seeing the signs of the times?

Don't believe in any god/s. But America is headed down the shidder.

bev I reckon - frogs gay.webp

Including the slow but sure move toward world government.

- and that is some how different than those same people trying to make a world religion ...

it's the either or crowd, desert dwellers as an example who are the threat imposing their madeup, self serving religions as the only recourse and necessary for everyone to participate or die in hell. resulting in the corruption of the individual spirit on a grand scale.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, let me tell you why I believe, probably more so than a person who lived in 1000 AD, that the second coming is very near. First and foremost I believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Secondly, the Book of Revelations is a revelation that takes us up through the end of mortal existence on this earth. Gaining more understanding of that revelation is critical in understanding events that lead to the second coming of Christ, the millennium, and the end of this mortal world. In the Book of Revelation, starting in chapter 5, John sees a book that is sealed on the back with seven seals. The rest of the Book of Revelation consists of what is written in the book under each of the seven seals. As we go through each seal, we progress through time until we reach the end of this mortal world. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation on the meaning of the book and its seven seals:

Doctrine and Covenants 77:6-7
6 Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals?A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and the works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.
7 Q. What are we to understand by the seven seals with which it was sealed?A. We are to understand that the first seal contains the things of the first thousand years, and the second also of the second thousand years, and so on until the seventh.

So according to this revelation, the Book contains all the works of God during the seven thousand years of this earth's temporal existence. This tells us that this earth's temporal existence will only be 7000 years. I believe what is meant by temporal existence is the earth in its fallen state. Thus we entered into the fallen state of this earth when Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit. By taking note of the time from the fall of Adam and Eve in the Bible up until the time of Christ, we see that it was approximately 4000 years. That would leave us just 3000 years from the time of Christ. We are now in the year 2025. So approximately 2000 more years have already transpired. So approximately 6000 of the 7000 years have already transpired. According to the Book of Revelation, Jesus second coming is to occur after the opening of the 7th seal or in the final 7000 year period. When Christ comes he will open up the age of the Millennium and will dwell on earth for a thousand years. So if you do the math, we are either right at the end of the 6th seal or the beginning of the 7th seal. In other words we are somewhere around the end of the 6000 years or the beginning of the 7000 year period.

Yes, there are still other prophesies that need to be fulfilled but they could be fulfilled within a short period of time. My personal belief is that before the year 2100 I believe the Lord Jesus will have made his second coming on the earth. That would be within the next 75 years. That is within 1 persons lifetime. In other LDS scripture it tells us that Jesus was born and died in the meridian of time. To me, I believe the Meridian of Time refers to the 4th seal or the 4th thousand year period of this earth's temporal existence since it is the middle time of the 7000 years of the earth's temporal existence. I believe Jesus died at the very end of the 4th seal. I believe Jesus died in the year 33 A.D. Thus the 5th seal would go from 34 A.D. to 1033 A.D. and the 6th seal would go from 1034 A.D. to 2033 A.D. Thus the 7th seal would open in 2034 A.D. Jesus is to come again after the opening of the 7th seal. These are just my personal thoughts on the second coming and not the church's.

Yes people have looked for the signs of Christ's coming over many past years but if Joseph Smith is a true prophet, then the second coming would not have come in their days but only after 6000 years of the earth's temporal existence. However, the signs of the times are not just to occur the day before Christ's coming. We don't know how many years prior to his coming that many of the signs will occur. To me one of the major signs before his coming is the two prophets that will appear in Jerusalem who will perform many miracle. Their ministry will last 3.5 years and then their bodies will lie in the streets of Jerusalem for 3.5 days and then they will resurrect into the clouds to meet Jesus at his coming. But if that is the only sign we wait for, we must ask if we will have time to get our lives in order. It is best to look for many signs and all the while repent of our sins and prepare to meet him at his coming.

PART of it may be with our instantaneous worldwide communication we are HEARING about them DAILY.

Maybe the meaning was never that they were increasing, but the constant HEARING due to the instantaneous spread of information

This was prophecied by Daniel -- another sign of the times

Ah, so we are justifying, nor discussing realities.

If I were the devil, if I could get many of self appointed prophets who receive no revelation from God to make a myriad of guesses and have them primarily be false it would convince some that all prophecies are false and there is no God. You have put forth a great list of people who have made guesses and even some very educated guesses but I don't believe any are prophets of God. I think the guess that the second coming would come after the year 2000 was a pretty good educated guess. After all if you study the chronology of the Bible, you can come to the idea that it was approximately 4000 years before the birth of Christ that Adam fell. Like me, these people are not prophets and simply making guesses as to when the second coming will occur. I am however trying to justify my beliefs by the prophet Joseph Smith whom I truly believe was a true prophet. What I pointed out in my previous post was that the prophet Joseph Smith received revelation that the earth's temporal existence is 7000 years. If the final thousand years is the Millennial reign of Jesus on the earth, then we must know that his coming is toward the beginning of the final 1000 years of the 7000 years. If the seals represent 1000 years of each of the 7000 years of the earth's temporal existence, then by reading Revelation 8 we can know that the Lord will come after the opening of the 7th seal or after the 7000th year period begins. Revelation 8 describes the events of that period and has Jesus coming upon the earth for his second coming within that time frame. In other latter-day scripture we learn that Jesus was born in and died in the meridian of time. The word, "meridian" was often used to indicate the middle time such as noon, that being the middle of the day or the high point of the day. If the earth's temporal existence is 7000 years, then the middle would be the 4th thousand year period. Given the chronology of the Bible, I believe that Jesus came at the very end of the 4th thousand year period or at the end of the 4th seal. This is why I believe that the fifth seal began shortly after the death of Christ. Believing Jesus died in 33 A.D. I believe the 5th seal went for the next 1000 years after that and that the 6th seal went for the next thousand years after the 4th seal. Thus I believe the end of the 6th seal to be around 2033 A.D. Yes, this is my personal interpretation. I am not a prophet but this is simply my calculation like others who have made their guesses. Shortly after the year 2033, we will be in the 7th seal. I am confident from the book of Revelation that Jesus' second coming will be in the 7th seal.

I can see that others have made the calculation from the Bible that Christ was born 4000 years after the fall of Adam. If you add 2000 years after that it brings us to the year 2000. This is where many I believe thought the 7th seal was to open. Even I believed this for a time. But now I believe the chronologies are off by 33 years or so based on the idea that Christ died in the meridian of time. But like I said, I am not a prophet so take that for what it is worth. However, if Joseph Smith is right and the seals represent 1000 years each of the earth's 7000 years of the earth's temporal existence, the we can know that from Revelation 8 that Jesus would not come until after the opening of the 7th seal or the beginning of the 7000 year period. So all those who predicted Jesus' coming prior to the opening of the 7th seal did not understand these verses as I do. I am just giving my reason for believing why those predictions were wrong. I can understand those who predicted his coming after the year 2000 since the bible chronology doesn't have Jesus coming until 4000 years had already transpired. But let me reiterate that this is my personal translation of what I have read in scripture and that I am not a prophet and I could be wrong but so far this what the evidence of scripture is telling me. There are many opinions and mine is only one of the many. But these are my reasons why those who believe Christ would come in the year 1000 A.D. or 1300 A.D. were way off. Time has proven them wrong and who knows whether time will prove us all wrong but we do know of a surety now that they were wrong. So far those who have predicted his coming before the year 2025 were also wrong. The only guessers left are those who have a prediction of after the year 2024.
