What should happen is that the Democrat acknowledge what they did, say the same things about two wrong not making a right, and offer legislation to keep it from happening again. An agreement is reached.

Then both sides fight clean forever and ever, amen.

What will happen is that the Democrats would rather eat concrete rather than admit they did wrong. Republicans, other than Trump, will invite them to negotiate. They will insist that the solution is for the GOP to stop being assholes, because the Dems did nothing wrong. Not ever. No negotiations needed.

They will put up with some casualties on their side, while martyring them. Watch how they react when LaMonica is sentenced. They'll do everything except come to the table.

They will ride out Trump's remaining term, and be confident that they can turn the next Republican into another hated and excoriated villian - as they did with Reagan and both Bush Presidents.

As soon as they get people in place at DOJ/FBI, they will start it up again.
