I'm still of the opinion that the 70s level of US population (203.3 Million) was the "sweet spot" as opposed to the currently estimated 349 million. What have we really gained by the 149 million increase? It's sure not quality of life.
We've been brainwashed to think that constant population growth is necessary for continued prosperity. It's not. Stability has virtue, but not for people who live their lives by spreadsheets and the politicians they buy.
This is a result, in my view, of a warped, corporatist mindset. Gotta keep growing, more more more. Quantity over quality.
In their minds leveling off or declining is “not a good thing”. More population, more GDP, at any cost. Who cares if the quality of life declines.
