We already know that China considers Taiwan to be part of China. So far the United States has not taken a firm stand one way or another on the issue but apparently favors Taiwan Independence.
This of course would put it at diametric odds with Beijing.

Russia considers Ukraine to be a Russian satellite and in the sphere of Russian influence. I'm not sure that Russia really wants to reclaim Ukraine totally but they do want to have some say in the politics.

I'm no expert on the Minsk agreements but it would seem that some of the western Nations have been culprits when it comes to honoring those terms.

Russia will probably have to settle for something less than a total victory because it's obvious that economically they need to end this war.

China on the other hand has limitless resources and all the time in the world to get where they want to be and it seems very likely that they will eventually get what they want.

Do you think the situations are identical?
Do you believe China is correct?
I already know what most of you think about Russia and Ukraine but I am open to whatever comment you might decide to make on the matter.

Similar in some historical respect, both Ukraine and Taiwan are their own nations with their own government and currency. Thus, any attack against them is an illegal invasion.

America and the world would fight far harder for Taiwans independence if attacked. Instead of being fooled a minute after an attack occurs it would be wise for the West to cut Chinas economic might down immediately. Trump seems to have begun this process.

There are some in EU who want America to fail but they are also very unwilling to lose their Middle Class as the U.S did. They are scrambling again (they did so earlier this year) to enact laws to protect their economy from the Chinese goods dump. Xi may be in jeopardy of being replaced due to his position against America and there is a large swath of Chinese citizens who are starting to speak out against Communism, they want a democracy now too thanks to the fallout of these tariffs. Many view Xi was one with big aspirations as Mao did. Citizens worry about seeing Mao policies return and a war breaking out.

I have not posted this here because I absorb so much information as is my personality, but there was a leak of a document regarding how China should deal with America and the tariffs (in addition to their greater objective of replacing America). Surely the CIA are well aware of what the CCP have planned for America. It isn't a pursuit to become best friends.

The global economy is more symbiotic than in the past but the CCP do not believe both they and America can coincide, so why should the West pretend that the communists are the friends of the free?

While it seems fairly evident that Ukraine will remain independent I'm not so sure about Taiwan. I know they're beefed up militarily but they're facing a foe 20 times their might and size. I do fear for them.

An invasion attempt would meet a wall of missiles and drones. Taiwan is a well defended island, including missiles that can hit China's cities. If it tries to blockade Taiwan, it loses the trade that keeps China alive. Internal pressures and imbalances are ripping China apart. As it collapses, it will be a security concern for neighbors, so Taiwan and others may need to increase patrols to protect shipping and borders.

I think they might be more opposites than similar. Ukraine is a mess of corruption and a money pit and Russia wanted out after Chernobyl. It costs a lot of money to maintain the Ukraine corruption and Russia didn't have the deep pockets that the NATO countries have. From the breakup of the USSR I think Russia has not had any interest in regaining Ukraine or any other ex-soviet country because it is just not a good investment. Russia just doesn't want NATO nukes parked on its borders. OTOH, Taiwan is a real prize if it can be taken by China and puts the entire world at the mercy of China for advanced chips. So, Ukraine is an old dying dog with fleas, while Taiwan is a 10 trillion dollar jackpot.
