Former Prime Minister of Australia gives his view on the future of relations with china

Unfortunately while he tries to be non partisan, in the end he ends up thinking with his heart instead of his head

he does not think the communist dictatorship is evil, and in fact could be our friend if we just try harder to understand each other

Its 20 minutes and worth a listen

Here is a more realistic conversation on the topic with an American and an Australian involved

And as an American unless they face economic collapse yes we're doomed to come into conflict

There will always be tension between major powers but threatened national security interests cause wars, either directly or by proxies. At present, Taiwan and North Korea pose the most serious threats to either side. I think China might be willing to pull the plug on NK if we abandoned Taiwan, but that would be a tough peanut to swallow.

The communist chinese reason that if they keep doing what they are doing someday they can dominate the world
That is NOT what any of the speakers in the videos argue. Rudd talks about a “Thucydides Trap” leading historically pre-eminent powers like the U.S. to go to war with rising powers like China. “Real Politics” advocates like John Mearsheimer and John Hugh talk only about China’s desire to establish REGIONAL hegemony, like the U.S. has in our hemisphere and has imposed through the Monroe Doctrine. Indeed, Mearsheimer makes it clear that it is the U.S. that is the power that has and will fight to maintain its world and Asian regional dominance against China, whereas Hugh argues that the U.S. cannot and will not ultimately prevail in Southeast Asia. He seems to believe the U.S. may ultimately abandon Australia and any fight to prevent Chinese supremacy in East Asia. He is an advocate for Australia developing its own military preparedness. These speakers are all well known geo-political professors, though Australian ex-Prime Minister Rudd is the only one who can be considered a China “expert,” as he at least is fluent in Mandarin.

I personally think it is clear we are entering a new mostly bipartisan Cold War with China. It is not at all clear, however, that we have a well-considered plan on how we can “win” such a war.

Right now we have a powerful movement to world government. We also have three nations vying for the major power on earth. China, Russia and the United States. We are being weakened from within.

We will be doomed to conflict as long as they are ruled by goose-stepping commies dead set on bringing their Bolshevism to the rest of the world.

Commies we will not abide. KACFM!

.

I don't know if doomed to a full blown conflict.....but to a somewhat cold' ish war, yes sure ....it's starting to look that way.

No. As soon as the adults are back in charge this will all blow over.

As I pointed out Rudd is reacting with his heart instead of his brain

This is not a case of the US misunderstanding china and being a bully

china is an aggressive expansionist power with a giant chip on its shoulder with a score to settle with the west

and America stands in its way

Do you consider Xi an adult?

As long as incapacity to reason prevails, yes, inevitable.

And vice versa
Not even the same

china kills political prisoners and sells their body parts

they are ruled by monsters

whatever quibbles you have with trump and republicans they are constrained by the Constitution and the basic decency of the American people

Xi is not

What score to settle?
