McDonalds has seen massive increases in corporate profits. They have managed to increase the price of their burger from $2 to $5 since the last minimum wage increase.

Well yes... every single time you increase the minimum wage, the price of the product has to increase with it.

This is why in Denmark, the cost of a value meal is $20, and employees are paid nearly $16/hour.

Of course this means that fewer people can afford to go out to eat. And fewer do. The number of McDonald's in Denmark per-capita, is a fraction of what it is here, logically because far fewer people go out to eat.

Now, in Denmark that is not a big deal, because there are way fewer no-skilled workers in Denmark. Which by the way, is exactly why wages are higher. It's not because they have a high minimum wage. In fact, Denmark has no minimum wage. The market drives up wages.

We have tons of unskilled people in this country. Largely due to our massive immigration, and illegal immigration.

But the point is, if we jacked up the minimum, the result will be higher prices, just like Denmark, which will results in fewer customers, just like Denmark, and fewer jobs.

McDonald's has raised their wages dramatically over the past dozen years, even in areas without an increase in the legal minimum wage, like Pennsylvania. By spending every dollar he earns. By earning enough money to get a home, and buy furniture, food, and take care of himself. 70% of the American economy is the American people going about their daily lives, eating, drinking, shopping, travel, and going to home town events. That part of the economy has fallen right off a cliff, and the workers who lost everything in 2008, and haven't really recovered, have nothing left to fall back on. If the government doesn't bail out the people this time instead of the corporations, your economy can't recover. People need to spend to make this recovery happen.

Giving the poor money is the best way to prime this pump because of their pent up demand and the fact that the poor spend every dollar they get, and spending is what is needed at the moment.

God forbid if we were neighbors.

Many of our fathers worked long hours and went without in order to save and to provide. There was no such thing as internet, cell phones, Starbucks, no one drove a BMW and if you even had a television there wasn't cable.

My father had a HS Diploma and got a union job at 18. On that salary he was able to raise four kids on a single salary, had good health benefits, a pension and retired at 60 with no debt. He sent four kids to college without going into hock.

Today’s kids have no shot at that American Dream. AOC wants to bring some of that back.
