Just think, 10 minutes is all it takes to go from a nice safe area, filled with restaurants and shops, and my personal favorite hotel on the Thames, the Marriott County Hall, to a part of London that cops don't like to go in after dark.

You should get out more, hanging around Swiss Cottage, and the tourist spots on the Thames is great, but it doesn't expose you to the real London.

Well you are right about that, some think they are Wyatt Earp or preparing to storm the Normandy Beaches, years ago my Mums Sister who was a American Citizen visited us in the UK, in one conversation she told me she kept a loaded 38 in her bedside Cabinet, i was horrified, and back in the day i have been a gun owner and shooter until we had to give them up after a nutter killed some kids up in Dunblane Thomas Hamilton, the thing is he was a licensed Gun owner for twenty years, and i know how strict the laws were as a gun owner in those days, regular visits by the police without warning, my guns were kept in a safe bolted to the floor and ammo kept separate, the contradiction is we now have more gun crime than we ever had, a gang member drug dealer doesn't apply for a firearms license.

Well, if you made the barrel and stock longer, you could still have the gun. The ban just related to the size, probably for concealment. I would expect more incidents because the population has grown, gun ownership has grown, and attitudes in society/culture forever changes.

We used to wander the fields with air rifles, air pistols, and a shotgun. Never had a problem and we never caused a problem.
