Sort like this one:

Yet.......yet, they had hammers, crowbars, MACE, nail-tipped steel flagpoles, metal gloves, knives, tasers, guns......and then even though, to echo poster Rigby5..."they knew they would be gunned down if they committed violence".....well, what did they do?

They committed violence.
And were wrong....not only in committing all that violence, but also in their belief they would be shot down. Regrettably, for both.

"The fact these people were foolish and thought there was election fraud, without any evidence, just means they are naive, not evil or even remotely criminal."

" Naive' " "not evil". OK, my avatar ain't gonna push back too hard on that. After all, it is hard to prove naivete', even 'evil' can be subjective.

On the other hand though....and looking a little more skeptically.......that "not remotely criminal' assertion seems problematic.
Most especially, when we watch the videos of the vicious attacks on uniformed police with a variety of weapons. We watch the vandalism and breaking & entering of the People's House. We hear (thankfully we haven't been offered public videos)....but hear of Trumpaphiles on January 6th pooping and urinating in the halls and offices of the Capitol (one bloke, who was in Pelosi's office was just sentenced --not the bloke with feet on the desk --- but another Trump RWNJ criminal who admitted on social media he urinated in her office. THAT and other crimes got him convicted and sentenced.)

Lorenzo Boyd, a former director of the Center for Advanced Policing at the University of New Haven, called attempts to downplay the deadliness of the weapons used on Jan. 6 a "false narrative."

"There were a lot of weapons that could be lethal weapons as applied," said Boyd. In his view, the fact that the rioters were armed with a variety of weapons clearly contributed to the Capitol Police's failure to protect the building. "If you see a lot of resistance and you're being outgunned, outmanned, outpowered, you tend to kind of fall back a little bit," said Boyd.

Federal prosecutors say that Christopher Michael Alberts of Maryland was arrested on Capitol grounds on the evening of Jan. 6 while carrying a Taurus G2c 9 mm handgun with one round in the chamber and a full 12-round magazine. He also allegedly had an extra magazine in his pocket and was carrying a gas mask, pocket knife and first-aid kit.

And, demonstrating that one thing can be more than one thing at the same time.....the January 6th insurrection was also: A 'tourist visit'; 'legitimate political discourse'; and "a citizen protest".

Yes, it was those.....and it was also a vicious attack on uniformed police (see the videos)...with clubs, with bats, with chemical sprays, with metal-knuckles, with a multitude of thrown objects.

And, a 'peaceful, unarmed riot'.....could also be an assault that injures 140+ uniformed police officers, some with career-ending injuries.

So, ConAmerican's 'peaceful' riot seems to have many facets.
