Another Black Athlete Making Unreasonable Demands - Practically Unknown Driver Doesn't Understand NASCAR Culture

I'm guessing people will still bring them and I doubt nascar will do anything about it.

Doubt it - You triggered bro? :aargh:

If a few thousand fans in the seats sneak them in, if a few hundred of the RV's in the infield bring them in, what is NASCAR going to do? search everyone? search every RV?
FYI..NASCAR has discouraged the Stars and Bars since 2015..with mixed results. As for what they will do..well..probably warn the offender..and toss them out if ignored.

Given the price of infield camping ..i imagine people will bite the bullet..and leave the flag inside. The prices below are for two people..an additional $275 per person!

Some packages of GEICO Horseshoe RV are-
  • Six-Day GEICO Horseshoe RV Camping: $1,125
  • Three-Day GEICO Horseshoe RV Camping: $875
  • Two-Day GEICO Horseshoe RV Camping: $700

Again, what will they do if masses of fans do this? Kick them all out?

What about Rebel Flag T-shirts, license plate covers, etc?

License plate covers - You mean frames? Anything (decals/whatever) on a car won't be problem. Stuff coming into the stadium gets checked like a coat and they can feel free to pick it up on departure.

If all they have is a redneck tee shirt on, they do the same but offer rednecks a cheap NASCAR tee shirt for 10 bucks or less (nobody is interested in seeing these people topless).

These guys who like watching cars on a freeway ain't all that bright but they'll learn. Put it in bold lettering on their tickets. Eventually, even rednecks learn.

I think you are going to get far more resistance than you think.

Fine - Give 'em a refund and send 'em home to their trailers. :)

When 10-20% of the crowd shows up and resists?

When 50 RV's packed into the midfield show the flag, and you would have to move 200 other RV's to get them out?

I don't have any Confederate flags and don't fly them but the problem I have with this is that it won't end there.

What's ironic is that many of the people who oppose the displaying of the Confederate flag for what (they think) it symbolizes have no problem with Antifa and BLM tromping on the American flag. The point being that, if the American flag means nothing to them then why does the Confederate flag mean something?

Hypocrites.

Beautiful leap in logic - Thx!! o_O

It's a question. Can you answer it? Are you one of those who has no special feelings about the American flag? If so, why does the Confederate flag trigger you?

The confederate flag represents THE darkest chapter in American history. No, I don't approve of American flag desecration, but SCOTUS determined it was constitutionally protected free speech. I don't approve of the desecration of confederate flag either, but same holds true.

NASCAR has a right to ban whatever they would like in the way of flags or apparel at their events. They don't like racist symbols either.

Are conservatives going to boycott Nascar now? Shall we add them to the list of things they're boycotting?

Target
Star Wars
Starbucks
NFL
Budweiser
Levi's
Facebook
Nike
Keurig
Gillette
CNN
College
Twitter
Nascar
You left off:
HBO Max
News media
Hollywood
Ben and Jerrys
Disney
and yes.... chick fila for donating to SPLC.
Full list on idiocy here.

I don't see anything about the sporting goods stores who stopped selling certain (or all) guns. Funny as hell that they would boycott Walmart just because the Walton Family occasionally donates to Democrats when they give Republicans ten times as much.

This boycott crap RARELY works. And poor RW rednecks are Walmart's BASE!! :D

You're hilarious dude. If an RV raises a racist loser flag on their RV, ask them politely to take it down. This ain't rocket science.

They have plenty of cops at NASCAR events. If they choose to be assholes, they'll be escorted out. They can pick up their RV's the next day.

How is the confederacy doing these days?
Non existent.
Well, they tried a coup against the United States of America and soundly got their asses whipped by Lincoln and Grant. And they claim to be honoring their loser ancestors, because they fought for what they believed in. What they believed in was slavery, but they will never admit that. They just took another hit from NASCAR, their preferred "sport."

As a NASCAR fan, I’ve been paying attention to this whole thing from the start. While I understand what NASCAR is doing and why, I think they’re going to end up seeing a reduction in their viewership and attendance (when tracks reopen to fans). Very few people will decide TO turn on a race or attend one because the Confederate flag isn’t allowed. Many may choose NOT TO watch or attend for the same reason.

If that happens, Bubba Wallace may need to keep his head on a swivel. As they say... rubbing is racing. There’s already one part time truck series driver who has announced he won’t return to the circuit next year over the flag controversy.

Aren't the cops just as "racist" as they are?

I thought that was the whole point of this?

If desecrating the American flag is constitutionally protected free speech then so is displaying the Confederate flag. You can't have it both ways. And, if one desecrates the American flag then it's because they see it as a symbol of hate. So if some view the American flag as a symbol of hate and are allowed to desecrate it then why can't those who view the Confederate flag as a representation of their heritage be allowed to display that? Why does one groups' opinion matter more than the others'?

NASCAR has a right to ban whatever they would like in the way of flags or apparel at their events. They don't like racist symbols either.

I haven't said anything about NASCAR's decision. However, this "symbol of hate" that represents the "darkest chapter in American history" is not seen as having anything to do with race by most of those who display them. They're fully aware of the flag's origins but it is not why they display them.

I'm originally from upstate New York but have lived my entire adult life in the deep south. I can tell you right now from experience, most whites here have no problem with blacks. They befriend blacks at work, in church and in their neighborhoods. They socialize, date and intermarry (my niece is married to a black man and their two children are black).

On top of everything else, the majority of blacks live in the South. One has to wonder why, if white racism is so prevalent here, they choose to stay.

One of the most blatant cases of racism I've ever run into was when we all took a trip to New York years ago to visit family and friends. A second cousin came by to visit along with his sister and he regaled us for the next two hours with n****r jokes. We were speechless and his poor sister was horribly embarrassed.

White racism is not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be and it's not all in the South.

I wonder if the people running those tracks are in deep underground basements talking about this now. Maybe there won't be any issues. The Daytona areas has spent several hundred million dollars and more on a massive upgrade of the stadium and a tremendous boon in building shops, motels and other places around it with improvements to I 95 nearing completion in the area. There are a lot of people who visit sporting that flag. Maybe it is nothing. The meaning of the Flag as it was is not what it is now.
