i do not want to see a mormon elected as president...i do not want to see religious service equated with military service....
20 bucks says you voted for Obama and Clinton if you were old enough to vote. Not voting for someone because of their religion clearly makes you a bigot and nobody has said religious and military service are equal.
France, England, Australia and Chile as part of their obligation to the Mormon church.
Tell people who are escorted across hostile borders in war time by missionaries that missionaries help only their church.
please don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
the purpose of missionary work is to convert people.
yeah. Missionary work is designed to bring people to Christ. To make bad men good, and good men better.
How is helping people better themselves by bringing them to Christ bad for society?
Actually, how does that directly benefit this country?
I served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 until 2002, so I'm pretty well aware what the military does directly for this country.

"
The American Missionary Association (AMA) was a Protestant-based abolitionist group founded on September 3, 1846 in Albany, New York. The main purpose of this organization was to abolish slavery, to educate African Americans, to promote racial equality, and to promote Christian values. Its members and leaders were of both races and chiefly affiliated with Congregationalist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches."

Good question. Does it do anything to reduce our debt, does it provide jobs? Does it do anything to promote a positive perception of America?
As far as I can tell, it does nothing for the country. All it does is help their religion expand.
Man oh man, If the Obama's were missionaries we wouldn't ever hear all this petty bull from you people
No, because if the Obamas were missionaries and tried to compare their service to their church with the 20 years of service that I have personally given to this country via the U.S. Navy, I'd say they were full of shit as well.
Missionary service does not directly benefit this country, it directly benefits the church.
Military service directly benefits this country and ALL the people who live here, not just 1 church.

When the people involved turn into pushy, judgmental, religious fanatics who then seek to impose their own religious views on others, whether or not the others want to hear about those views.
You're just bitter that the Democrat Party doesn't have a monopoly on that kind of behavior. How is helping people better themselves by bringing them to Christ bad for society?

So because you were in that Navy, you know more than ANYONE else.
You're not the only one that's been in the military for that many years, and i know quite a few of them that would say you are full of shit.

How any of you can act OFFENDED over something so trivial is beyond me

Mormons take in 7 billion a year just from the members. I'm sure they spend it wisely.
