And thus ended the political career of Trump... Evangelicals can now discard him...

With the ruling overturning Roe V Wade, the deal is now complete. I refer to the unspoken deal the Evangelicals had with the GOP, Mitch McConnell, and with Trump.

Mitch cashed in the Trump presidency for one more SCOTUS judge, and now the winnings have been paid out.

The evangelicals no longer have any use for Trump. They will now climb back up on their high horse, having fallen off for a few years to justify and ignore all manner of unethical and immoral behavior by Trump.

It will be like they never fell off. Trust me.

And they can stitch up the schism in their own churches practically overnight. Trump will not win the primary, and *poof*... schism gone.

This is one of your very rare posts with some basis in reality. so kudos. But, it misses the mark.

Your theory is that evangelicals hate Trump for his life of sin, but went along with him because he could be trusted more than any other Republican to actually do something about abortion.

You're right about that, he certainly did something. He beat the Dems at their own court-packing game. I would bet the farm that Trump personally spoke to every justice he nominated and pinned them down not just on opposing Roe V. Wade, but promising to overturn it. That's where the GOP had fallen short, and wound up nominating Justices like Roberts and that other guy.

But that does not mean the evangelicals will now suddenly remember his porn-star raw-dogging past life and turn against him. Trump was a scalawag in his (relative) youth, but how he is happily married to a beautiful woman and had not a single scandal of being inappropriate with any other woman in four years in the WH. How long did Clinton last, four days?

Evangelicals forgive the past, that's part of their religion. That's why Clinton suddenly started quoting the bible to show that oral sex isn't sex.

According to them hillary should have won in 2016
Which was true by every measure, right up until the last 3-4 weeks.

But the time election day occurred, the polls were as spot on as polls can be, as they were within their margins of error.

Seems like you forgot.

Well, thats a bit overstated. They don't have to "hate" him. They only have to accept someone else.

And someone with a more acceptable ethical and moral history -- but with all the same political ingredients -- will appeal to many of them.

They saw Trump get smashed in 2020. They see the political damage being done to him by the facts of Jan 6 coming out. They see his company is charged with felonies, and that he, himself, is under criminal investigation in Georgia. They see he is damaged goods.

And they like winning. At any cost. And the cost of ditching Trump will be a no brainer for many of them.

And that's all it takes. Not most or all of them. Just enough.

Which embarrasses you. A grown man should not go around around inventing fantasies and lying to himself out loud to avoid fact based discussion.

It is childish.

The Atlantic has 0 credibility. next.

Given your willingness to invent fantasies to avoid the facts, I will assume you do not plan to show us any objective measure of your claims to the contrary of my thread title.

The Republicans are and will be (by 2024) quite skilled at and experienced in lying to rubes like you, using the Big Lie to win votes, without any assistance or appearances by Trump. You are like a fish putting the hook in its own mouth. They don't need the orange worm as bait anymore.
As you try to make the Bidens relevant...
Got crack pipe?

You are very confused.

Speaking to Biden's popularity speaks only to his chances of winning in 2024. The person he runs against may or may not be Trump.

This thread topic is about the chances it will be Trump.

I think those chances just fell right off a cliff. For the very specific reasons mentioned.

Libs want indecisive, feelings dominated politicians who will virtue splatter all over the place for their downtrodden (who got there by their own devices)
Neato, but you can practice self affirmation and self soothing at any time, anyplace, without this message board.

In this topic, you should present evidence and argument of why you think the thread title is wrong.

Indeed.

Which will all occur without any assistance from or need for Trump.
Nonsense. Won’t happen. Your paranoia in agreeing with the silly claims of a tool like Adam_Clayton reflects accurately on you that your you’re a tool, too.

Good grief. “Christo-fascist” is such a bullshit term. Pathetic posting and you endorse it. Naturally.
