An open letter to Harry Reid

Dear Harry,

Do your fricken job and let the senate vote on bills passed by the house. Are you afraid that some of them will pass and actually help the economy? Has obama got your balls in a tiny box under his desk and told you he will step on them if you let the senate do its job?

Here they are Harry. Lets see some action.

290 House Bills Waiting for Senate Approval - CBS News

Reply to Republicans

Stop the filibuster and allow Democratic bills to come to the floor and maybe some of yours will come up for a vote

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga91DDZxNng"]Harry Reid: Eliminating Filibuster Would Discard Two Centuries Of Senate History - YouTube[/ame]

What has either network lied about? It is a fact that the house has passed 290 bills that Reid refuses to allow any discussion or votes in the senate.

Why is telling the truth "partisan" ?
The House may have passed a number of bills that Reid is refusing to put up for vote. The reason is that each of this bills have riders which make the bills unacceptable to Democrats. Now, in the past the Senate and House would site down and work out a compromise that was acceptable to both bodies. However, today the right refuses to compromise. To the right, compromise is a dirty word and any republican legislator who calls for compromise is immediately called a RINO, thrown under the bus, and primaried for not being a 'pure' republican!!! Thus the House bills sit without a chance of moving forward.
Don't believe me? Exactly how much chance do you think one of the House's fourty-some bills to repeal ACA has of being approved by the Senate and signed by the president?

So you confirm that Reid is refusing to let house passed bills (bi-partisan bills) come to a vote in the senate for partisan reasons?

and you think this is a good thing?
Absolutely. Reid knows that the bills have zero chance of passing. THEY ARE WRITTEN THAT WAY ON PURPOSE. republicans do not want any bill to pass that might make Obama look good. It is obstructionism taken to the limit. Go up a few posts and you will find a very short list of the bills boehner is holding back. There is a reason the last Congress only passed 55 bills in two years. And there is a reason why the last Congress has the lowest rating in history.
Is it a "good thing" and do I approve of it? Of course not! It is not a good thing. Many of the bills the Senate has sent to boehner would help Americans who need that help. The republican house is saying screw veterens, screw kids, screw the elderly, and SCREW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

GOP FIRST. AMERICA SCOND (OR THIRD, OR FOUR!!!)
PARTY OVER COUNTRY.

ONE vs 290 OK
You mock the poster because they only listed one of the bills being held up by boehner and the house (Immigration Act). Here is a very short list of some of the other bills that are also being held back by boehner.
HR 12 – Paycheck Fairness Act
H.R. 20 — Melanie Blocker Stokes Mom’s Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support for Postpartum Depression Act
H.R. 320 — CJ’s Home Protection Act
H.R. 448 — Elder Abuse Victims Act
H.R. 466 – Wounded Veteran Job Security Act
H.R. 515 – Radioactive Import Deterrence Act
H.R. 549 — National Bombing Prevention Act
H.R. 577 – Vision Care for Kids Act
H.R. 626 – Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act
H.R. 780 – Student Internet Safety Act
H.R. 911 — Stop Child Abuse in Residential Programs for Teens Act
H.R. 985 — Free Flow of Information Act
H.R. 1029 – Alien Smuggling and Terrorism Prevention Act
H.R. 1110 – PHONE Act and H.R. 1258 – The Truth in Caller ID Act
H.R. 1168 — Veterans Retraining Act
H.R. 1171 – Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization
H.R. 1172 — Requiring List on VA Website of Organizations Providing Scholarships for Veterans
H.R. 1262, Water Quality Investment Act
H.R. 1429, Stop AIDS in Prison Act

OK.. 20 vs 290.
You dunce!!!!! BASIC READING.
"Here is a very short list of some of the other bills that are also being held back by boehner." You do understand what the words " . . . very short list . . . ." means, or is what is left of your brain just mush? (To much Fox will do that to you.)

Stop crying. You confederates have done to the USA what you couldn't do 150 years ago. You've brought our govt. to a crashing halt. Soon you confederates will disallow democrats the right to vote. It took you 5 minutes after the SC struck down the key provisions in the VRA. Stop crying.

I see that you are a newby, you are allowed a couple of idiotic posts before you are destroyed by facts and logic. enjoy :eusa_whistle:
Before you can destroy someone with facts you must know and accept the facts.
Ellasophia, you have nothing to fear from redfish.

So both parties are obstructing what could be progress based on partisan values. Why do we allow this to continue? Because the majority of the population picks and chooses their news. We are dragged into this ratings war over superfluous stories based on sensational oddities that have no bearing on real world issues. Paul Walker received more coverage than the NDAA and so did Duck whoever. If the news informed the public of what was actually held in these bills they would be outraged.

The parties in power utilize these fallacies portrayed by reporters as real issues that must be addressed. Instead of the religious beliefs of a southern redneck or climate changes that are arguably true or false for which there might or might not be a solution let's focus on he things we know we can fix. The border is an issue that everyone agrees is a problem, yet no one fights to solve the problem. We send aid overseas for countries that don't help us while complaining about the homeless problem that is growing with no end in sight. We bail out companies with billions of dollars when we could have given each man, woman, and child over a thousand dollars each. Our economy is in shambles yet we sign trade agreements giving foreign nations the edge over our production capabilities.

How is it not obvious that our gubernatorial system is broken and that we need to remove every financial incentive to govern? Public service should not help make you a millionaire over a decade. The public trust should be held by those who strive to lessen their own personal gain while improving the lives of the country as a whole. Proper legislation could regain our advantage as the worlds economic powerhouse instead of pas feeing to those countries unwilling or unable to support themselves. Foreign diplomacy should not be catering to those less fortunate, but building partnerships that profit America.

The bills fillibustered by Paul and Cruz did come up for votes. The ones that Reid is sitting on have not.

Look children...

You can't have it both ways. You can't require the Democrats to have 60 votes to bring a bill up for a vote and then expect your own bills to come to the floor with only 45

Good post. I'm democrat but I know both parties play the game you mention. Taxpayer funded elections only with a short election cycle. No campaigning till 3 months before the election for example. Candidates can only appear on tv when it's taxpayer funded. Then putting a stop to revolving door. Leaving office and going to work for good buddies in their foundations for example. An ex politician can't work for anyone he did any interaction with for five years would be a good start with mandatory minimum prison sentence for violaters. If voters from both sides worked for this it could happen.

You are dodging the real issue. Reid has not allowed a vote to be taken. 45 or 60 or 51. If no vote is allowed----------------

How about we make a deal Republicans?

For every Senate bill you release from filibuster, Reid will release one of your House bills?

Republicans are not allowing votes to be taken....that is what a filibuster is

A bill never makes it to the floor without 60 votes

only 2, count em 2, bills have been fillibustered, and both were later voted on.

If a senator feels that a bill is not in the best interests of his constituents why would he vote for it?

oh, and please look up fillibuster, its not what you described. please do it so that you do not continue to look like a fool.

Hey Red, the date on that article you linked to was Feb.2010. Fuck you.

Here's another one: Why the Senate Is Sitting on 309 Bills - Businessweek

So in 2010 Reid was holding up between 290 and 309 house passed bills.

Since you are so brilliant, what is the count today?

fuck you very much

Shit. Who was the Speaker of the House in April of 2010?

You might just have yourself an epic fail thread here.

Reid led the Senate in 2010
Pelosi led the House in 2010

Red is bitching about some kind of obstruction in 2010?

Does this make sense?

Yea, yea

Republicans hide behind cloture so filibuster is not even called for

How about it Republicans?

Are you willing to allow Democratic bills to come to the floor if Reid allows your bills to come to the floor?

I don't speak for the GOP, but I think all passed by one house should get a vote in the other house in a timely manner.

I believe that Reid is sitting on all these house bills because he afraid one might pass the senate and put obozo on the hot seat if he vetoes it.

thanks for admitting that you lied about what a fillibuster is. The truth will set you free, Norton.

Six of one, half dozen of the other

Cloture motions serve the same purpose

So what is it?

Will Republicans allow more Democratic bills through cloture/filibuster if Reid allows their bills to come up for a vote?

We all know the answer is NO
