Politico today published interesting coverage on the efforts of that informal, ad hoc, non-professional effort by "online sleuths" to hunt down the perpetrators of the horrific attack on our elected Congressional Representatives on January 6th, 2021.
Their efforts have been touched upon in the past by any number of threads and posts on this chatroom venue. Lately, we haven't heard much from them as the low-hanging fruit of the more foolish insurrectionists have been identified, tracked-down, and arrested. (They did have that bloke out of Bradenton FL recently where his parents had already been arrested and convicted.....but he went underground. Sedition Hunters found that J6 Jackass. He is now under arrest.)
Anyway, Politico gives those who are interested some background info on the passion of those who are 'search hobbyists'. (a great quote from one of them, commenting on the number of porn....even gay porn.....performers who attacked our Representatives that day and have been identified by their porn work: “The things I do for this country,” Josh jokingly messaged me when he got a match. “The number of dicks I’ve had to see in the name of preserving our democracy, someone should give me a goddamn medal.”)
It's a good read, if you like crime drama.

Maybe a newly unearthed video you discovered pans past a rioter at juuust the right moment, and suddenly you’ve got a perfect face shot of a masked-up assailant who took a sip of water at the wrong time. Maybe you’re trying to debunk yet another conspiracy theory from some nutty far-right website (Nope, that guy’s not antifa either!), and you stumble upon a previously undocumented assault on a member of the U.S. Capitol Police, who weren’t wearing body cameras. It was dopamine hit after dopamine hit after dopamine hit."
