The American Federal Government must act now, to develop a plan to
curtail the current rising unemployment situation. If this unemployment situation becomes progressively worse, it could cause a cascade effect, and may cause a global recession.

America must invest more in America now.Not latter.

Western Europe has spent most of the last 30 years with 10%+ unemployment. In past recessions unemployment in the US has exceeded 10% several times. So why is 6.1% so bad? Western Europe has NEVER seen unemployment that low.

oh yes.. and we give a fuck about the European standard of living! Hell, BEGGERS IN CALCUTTA never had it so good!

Unemployment during the depression was 29 PERCENT, geniuses. It's 6 PERCENT now.

You don't deal with unemployment by spending more $$ on government.

You deal with it by opening up industry. Removing restrictions on logging, fishing, farming, land development, and DRILLING. Encourage industry by making it economically feasible to HIRE AMERICANS.

The best thing that could happen to us is to remove minimum wage and unions for a while. Watch unemployment disappear.

yea baba.. NO ONE fucking remembers how many jobs were CREATED by the new deal in order to pull us OUT of the fucking depression...

Oh yes, trickle down Economics, but the rich aren't trickleing down enough to create a substantial amout of new Jobs.

First off, do you have any idea what kinds of jobs have been temporarily lost during this mild recession? It sure isn't high paid professionals. Those lost jobs are the same jobs that are ALWAYS lost during economic downturns. The economic fringe, mostly low or no skilled positions and the bottom end of the income spectrum.

And with a $400,000,000,000 deficit there will be NO massive government jobs program in anyone's lifetime on this forum. Obama damned sure as hell isn't proposing anything like that and the Republicans will still hold fillibuster in the Senate and any try by the far left loons in the House will die on the floor in the Senate.
