You know, I have a solution to all this.....Just merge the welfare list with the No Fly list.

Or....Search by cheapest flight. Then book anything other than that. ;)

Here's a link I can actually open without needing the latest and greatest web browser:

One possible solution would be for airlines to give people comfortable seats like they used to instead of shoehorning folks in like sardines to maximize profits. Then folks would not fight over armrest space.

I don't really like being crammed into airline seats either toob. However, their is always the option of flying first class and paying for a larger area. Airline profit margins are in the 4% range. They are not gouging and the narrower seats are a way to keep costs down for the consumer. If you want convenience, you have to pay for it.

They are not called the cattle cars of the skies for nothing.

I really can't think of anything more repulsive than being stuck inside a metal tube with a bunch of EBT sows.

That's fine if you are some young, skinny chick but I'm a very large dude. I should not be penalized for my genetics. Seats on airlines ought to be built to accommodate all, with a few smaller seats, a few larger seats and the rest average, then seat people as needed. Not everyone is 120 pounds.

Guess that's why I haven't flown since 1996. Airlines used to attract business by making it a fun, pleasurable, comfortable experience, passengers were treated with respect; I have no interest in being in a cattle car. I'd sooner take a Greyhound bus then or better still the Amtrak.

Amtrak is actually pretty fargin' nice.

We took the Auto Train where you took your car with you to FL back in the day. It was damn nice but that was back in the 80s when the population was less.

Everything these days looks like you are traveling on a train in India.

I think so, too. Went from ft. worth to flagstaff on it last year; we got to take our bikes with us as well. Didn't mind the long trip time, thanks to the scenery.

One of the best routes is from Chicago to LA. The northern route through Wyoming is pretty dull.

LOL, that would be great alright, but the realities are that fuel and the space in the cabin are commodities and if you use more of either, then you have pay for it.

Nothing thrilling about anywhere in the Great Plains, but hitting the Rockies makes it worthwhile. I've always liked northern Az and Utah and the western side of the Rockies; a lot more scenic and places to see there.

Wow, I never heard of an auto train offered by Amtrac. Was the cost of the car transport less than the cost of a rental?

Onboard

Passengers can enjoy Wi-Fi, power outlets, lounge areas, and an observation car with panoramic views[^^14^^]. The train provides a relaxing environment, allowing travelers to rest, read, or enjoy entertainment while avoiding the stress of driving on I-95.

Ticketing

Ticket prices vary based on accommodation type, travel dates, and vehicle size:
This was from Virginia to Florida, a 17 hour trip, DC to Orlando, basically; the only auto-train route they offer. We take our electric bikes and get around fine from the trains and bus stations.

That's great! I ride a touring motorcycle and I've always wanted to tour the Appalachians on it but living in WA, we are not up to the cross country ride on the bike anymore. LOL, the days of 600-1000 miles a day are long gone. This would be an option for us. Thanks, I'm going to look into this.
