April 2011 – For the first time in American history, Obama urges passage of a non-discrimination law that does not contain hiring protections for religious groups, forcing religious organizations to hire according to federal mandates without regard to the dictates of their own faith, thus eliminating conscience protection in hiring. 10

Many of these actions are literally unprecedented – this is the first time they have happened in four centuries of American history. The hostility of President Obama toward Biblical faith and values is without equal from any previous American president.

Thank God.

I gave up on the "Christian" faith long ago. To much hypocrisy and hate. Glad to see the President is trying to be a President to all faiths. Instead of just the Christian faith.

When Christian churches lose their most precious ruling. You know, the tax exempt one, and when people are forcefully jailed for attending Christian church's and when supposed Christian men don't wield all the power of the USA, come talk about the war on the Christian religion.

But remember; Christians have a history of having martyr's and you to could be one. Have at it.

America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President????? REALLY?????

Let's look at some Thomas Jefferson quotes......

Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one-half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth.

I know it will give great offense to the clergy, but the advocate of religious freedom is to expect neither peace nor forgiveness from them.

To talk of immaterial existences is to talk of nothings. To say that the human soul, angels, god, are immaterial, is to say they are nothings, or that there is no god, no angels, no soul. I cannot reason otherwise ... without plunging into the fathomless abyss of dreams and phantasms.

The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter.

The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites.

Congressman: There is a War on Religious Belief in Military
May 17, 2012 - Military chaplains and service members opposed to same-sex marriage are coming under attack in the military, according to Republican lawmakers and a chaplain advocacy group.
The Chaplain Alliance For Religious Liberty said there is an effort under way to silence, and in some cases punish, those opposed to gay marriage. The allegations surfaced after the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. “If you are supportive of same sex marriage, you can speak boldly,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance. “But if you are opposed, you are silenced.”

Crews is one of 19 individuals to write a letter to the House Armed Services Committee urging lawmakers to protect the religious liberties of chaplains and service members. “Until Congress acts decisively, efforts to silence the voices of our military chaplains of all faiths and backgrounds will likely continue well into the future,” the letter read. “It is time that Congress secures the rights of all chaplains, once and for all, instead of allowing those that do not subscribe to the orthodoxy of the day to be unconstitutionally silenced.”

The Pentagon disputed those assertions. In a statement to Fox News they said chaplains are not required to participate or officiate in any private ceremony that might conflict with their religious or personal beliefs. They also denied any service members have been punished for opposing gay marriage. “In general, as we have reinforced in training across the force, DADT Repeal is not about changing attitudes but rather about reinforcing behavior that treats everyone with dignity and respect,” the spokesman said. George Wright, an Army spokesman at the Pentagon, said in a statement to Fox News “the religious freedoms of Army chaplains are already well protected in Army policy and regulations.”

Crews said they know of dozens of instances where military personnel have come under fire. He said one chaplain was told that if he could not support DADT he should resign his commission. “Some of these chaplains have in fact had their careers impacted,” he told Fox News. “They’ve been punished. Right now, if you are opposed to this policy you’re not seen as a team player.

An amendment to the 2013 defense authorization bill could change that. The amendment, sponsored by Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO), protects religious freedom of military chaplains and service members opposed to same-sex marriage. Akin said he’s received a number of complaints about people of religious faith concerned about what they perceive to be attacks on Christianity. “There is a war on religious belief in the military,” Akin told Fox News. Akin said he was aware of chaplains who’ve come under fire for their opposition. “That’s the point (of the amendment),” he said. “To prevent further reprisals in the future.” “It’s frightening,” Crews said. “This is just another example of this administration’s push against religious liberty.”

Jefferson can be quoted to support about any side of any issue you want. :

'To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself. I am a Christian, in the only sense he wished any one to be; sincerely attached to his doctrines, in preference to all others; ascribing to himself every human excellence; & believing he never claimed any other.

If you can't follow the rules then get out. That has been the military rule since day one.

NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS OF PERSECUTION.

We all know the reality of the situation regarding Christians in this country.

So in what way has he prevented anyone from practicing their faith for themselves, and in what way has he stopped anyone from abiding by christian rules for themselves? About the only thing i see obama saying is you cannot impose christianity on non-christians, but you are perfectly capable of practicing your religion yourself with no one stopping you. The only thing that is changing is you are having trouble forcing others to live by christian rules and that is part of free will and freedom.

I would also like to point out something about freedom. you have every right to believe in something completely stupid, but you do not have the right to avoid the consequences of being perceived as stupid for your beliefs.

I also find it funny that you would claim a devout christian is somehow trying to keep others from being christian purposefully. Christians turn people off accidentally all the time, but it makes no sense that obama is trying to stop people from participating and believing in his religion.

Not seeing a problem with this.

Besides the rest beign typical stuff the government does under every president because someone remembers, "Oh, yeah, Non-Establishment clause", let's talk about the "Bitterly Clinging" statement.

I think that was very clumsily said, but it has a truth to it. White Christian America sees itself pummelled on all sides by globalism, by it's demographic decline, by changes in the values, and so on. But instead of dealing with change, they cling to what they take as a constant.

Kind of like a baby clinging to a security blanket.

I'm trying to find the outrage among the GOP for cutting daycare, slashing money for woman's health, cutting school lunches, stepping on the backs of the poor and the general feeling of "if you feed the poor they'll breed".

Instead, they believe their "rights" are being taken away. Only there is nothing listed that actually affects any of them. "Gay marriage"? Do most of these white wingers even know someone who is gay?

Love the one on "stem cell" research. Have you asked "Mitt"?

Sad day indeed when a man that Claims to be a Christian decides to suddenly become "religiously correct". A true Christian will spread the word, embrace his beliefs and say nothing instead of insult another. You shouldn't renounce your own beliefs to appease others, you say nothing instead.

His religious/political correctness will cost him some votes, not that he cares. He's got his base and now he just wants to energize them. Acorn will be knocking on your door soon. :)

ACORN Is hiding under your bed...

Frankly, I look at this laundry list of complaints, and most of them are actually upholding the constitution.

They did explain the establishment clause to you folks, right?
