This thread is to document vehicles which yield 100 mpg and beyond AND are affordable (35,000 USD or less).
So no , the Tessla does not make it into this list.
As a reference the average car yields about 26 mpg.
So we're talking about models which cut emisions by 2/3.

Alternative vehicle 1 : Elio car
Expected price : $ 7,000
MPG : 84
90% of the parts are American made.

Features | Elio Motors

yep , I've looked at their website . I hope that it makes it to production . I'm all set after I see them for a year or 2 . I've been riding motorcycles for 50 years and this Elio kinda reminds me of a poor mans practical MORGAN .

I prefer 100 MPH and beyond. :bye1:

I would also prefer 100 mpg : there's wikispeed, but it hasn't reached production stage yet ( and I'm starting to feel it will never get there and there's the e-tracer wich yields 300 mpg equivalent but it is VERY expensive ) . So this is about what the average household can buy without going bankrupt.

You misread. I said MPH, not MPG.

I'm only interested in gas or diesel and 70 mpg is good enough for now . ELIO is enclosed with some kinda heater I'd guess so its good enough for the winter like my old late 60s BEETLE back in 1969 . Plus it'd be fun to drive and customize . Only problem is that its so little I'd be afraid of fast moving high volume traffic on a freeway in or around a big city . Motorcycle , while little with its light weight , high power and maneuverability make it acceptable in All types of traffic but I don't know about the ELIO !!
