Yes, they are being given a "temporary" legal status. Some / many of them will be given permanent legal status if they say the right words, such as "I fear for my life if I go back." Ding ding... give that illegal a voter card, welfare, and permanent status as a political refugee. Course before that happens we will have to spend about 50-100k on each illegal to make them feel comfortable while we are telling them how to become a refugee.
