No, it was clearly the US who made Iran pay. We decimated their military. All their anti aircraft, gone. All their navy, gone. All their airforce, gone. The entire previous leadership structure, gone. Their nuclear program, gone.

We decimated a bunch of inflatable decoys in the desert. They never had much of an air force anyway. We gave them F-14s when our Shah was running the show, but he's gone.

They, with the assistance of Chinese and Russian surveillance, targeting and weapons, destroyed our entire Persian Gulf linked radar systems, 40+ airplanes in February and March, and apparently an entire squadron of F-35s (12 of them) on the ground in Jordan a few weeks ago.
