Venezuelan security forces have carried out hundreds of arbitrary killings under the guise of fighting crime, the UN's human rights body says.

In a report, it cites "shocking" accounts of young men being killed during operations, often in poor districts, over the past three years.

The UN's human rights chief said no-one was being held to account, suggesting the rule of law was "virtually absent".

The inevitable argument from the left that what's going on in Venezuela is not true socialism after heaping praises on the country and its leaders for adopting socialism.

And our government would not be going around shooting innocent citizens - as the left claim Police go around shooting innocents and the NAZI Party is now in control of DC.

Those among the moderate left liberals, should this nation vote in socialism, will be screaming....WAIT!!! "We didn't mean hauling people away to re-education camps, telling us what movies we can and can't see and what books we can and can't read, barging into homes without warrants, and long lines for food and we sure didn't mean throw away our Constitution."

Who heaped praises? We heap praises on Denmark, Sweden, etc. but I don`t know of any lefties that heaped praises on Venezuela`s leadership. Lie much?

Bernie Sanders and his clones are the future of the left now.

Bernie Sanders, Jeremy Corbyn, and the starving children of Venezuela
3 people who said something 5 years ago represents the left? Got anything better?

Socialism, and Communism always leads to Totalitarian Oppression by the few elite. Always. The Left in the U.S. are too ignorant to realize that they are being played.

The government's bailing out of wall street and the banks and the subsidizing of corporate america is a form of socialism also. A pretty good read on the subject is David Johnstone's 'Free Lunch'. How government subsidizes corporate America while the so called middle class gets poorer and poorer.

It was more than just 3 and you know it.

And then this:

Venezuela's Maduro calls Pence a 'poisonous viper'

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday called U.S. Vice President Mike Pence a "viper" and vowed to defeat what he called Washington's attempts to force him from power.

Pence, who arrived in Ecuador on Wednesday as part of a tour of South America, is seeking to boost regional pressure on Venezuela following Maduro's reelection in May in a vote that the United States said was fraudulent.

"Every time the poisonous viper Mike Pence opens his mouth, I feel stronger," the socialist leader said in a televised speech. "We have defeated you and we are going to defeat (you) wherever you are."

These guys...

Noam Chomsky's Venezuela Lesson

Actor Sean Penn met with Hugo Chavez several times and claimed Chavez did "incredible things for the 80 percent of the people that are very poor."

Oliver Stone made a film that fawned over Chavez and Latin American socialism. Chavez joined Stone in Venice for the film's premiere.

Michael Moore praised Chavez for eliminating "75 percent of extreme poverty."

Hello?! In Venezuela, Chavez and his successor, Nicolas Maduro, created extreme poverty.

Chomsky, whose anti-capitalist teachings have inspired millions of American college students, praised Chavez's "sharp poverty reduction, probably the greatest in the Americas." Chavez returned the compliment by holding up Chomsky's book during a speech at the U.N., making it a best-seller.

Is Chomsky embarrassed by that today? "No," he wrote me. He praised Chavez "in 2006. Here's the situation as of two years later." He linked to a 2008 article by a writer of Oliver Stone's movie who said, "Venezuela has seen a remarkable reduction in poverty."
