The USA has been an net exporter of refined products for over a decade ... things like light machine oil, gasoline and paraffin ... we've not been crude oil independent since WWII ... the only real difference is we import our crude oil from Canada and Mexico instead of the Middle East ... The price of crude is set globally. We will never be independent of the global market prices regardless of how much we import or export. We pay the same either way.

Reality doesn't bear that out. Biden has returned to the restriction of the Obama era. The US oil industry nearly doubled production in the Obama era. No reason to think the industry is not ramping up production as fast as it can.
