After 7 Kids Die In Oklahoma Tornados, State GOP Slash Funding For Shelters

Serious question, do you think the CEO of McDonalds (for example) is concerned with the funding of tornado shelters in Oklahoma?

Well, he sure doesn't wanna be forced by armed thugs to fund it through taxes. So I bet if you stopped forcing him to forfeit his money, he would rather donate it to the shelters.

Why? How would I know he wouldn't just buy himself a new recliner with the leftover money or something?

You act as if donating money to shelters is a foregone conclusion to decreasing taxes; it's really not.

You assume the CEO wouldn't. But, he cant right now, because you TAKERS tax him so much.

The private sector drives this country, and could do 99% of everything the government does and do it better.

Because without the tax money and government, they'd have to or the kids wouldn't have shelters. Get the government out of the way FIRST, and then the private sector would step up because someone would have to. Humans wont just watch others suffer, except all you greedy ass Democrats.

But they cant do all that stuff if you keep taxing them.

It would go over more like that awkward moment where someone falls down and everyone looks at each other in tense silence before someone gives up and finally moves to help them up.

We don't live in a world with lots of nice people, this is fact. It's all about the money.

But they cant do all that stuff if you keep taxing them.

Again, you're acting like wealthy people/corporations have no money.

They're called wealthy for a reason.

You are fucking insane. CEO's don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.

shut up hack. see bill gates and warren buffet...

totally dishonest thread title. one guy talked about possibly using the money for the shelters, but it was never a given and if they want the shelters, they can use other revenue.

are there any honest libs on this board?

I read the story at Raw Story and they twist everything. Black Labels favorite source to be sure.

i think he lies more than jakestarkey

I don't know. But why does it necessarily have to be the CEO of any company?

It doesn't, it was just the first thing that came to mind.
Of course a CEO came to mind. They're the favorite targets of petty demagogues.

Do you really believe people to be so callous to those in true need that they can't be relied upon to come together and help them?
Bluntly, yes. Particularly where the green stuff is involved.
Oh really?

So how does it happen that you so easily exempt socialistic progressive politicians and bureaucrats from this callousness?

Let me guess, they're not at all interested in the money, right?

When I saw the OP I wondered what the truth might be.

There are no honest libs anywhere.

Okay, if it makes you feel better.

Where did I exempt them?

My point was that I see no reason why corporations shouldn't pay a tax to help out the poor, since they really have no other incentive to do so.

Politicians at least have the (if minor) incentive of possibly getting voted out.

You are way too trusting of corporations.

Oh, as opposed to armed government thugs?

Places like Home Depot and Lowes do charity work and donations. They can build those shelters for the students, and make it a community project.

Let the taxpayers DONATE their time and money to it, not be forced to pay for it by government thugs.

Yeah, those armed thugs. Coming and shooting the...what? The corporation? It's not a person.

I'm not sure why taxing corporations is such a big issue to you.

I'm not saying corporations don't ever donate, I'm saying taxing them is a much more reliable method of obtaining the same result.

How many children have died while in school in the past decade? In cars? In trailer homes?

I'd guess schools come in a distant 3rd place, so a couple of points:

1. Should corporations fund shelters in trailer homes?

2. Should corporations fund highway shelters every 5 miles ?(you realize the average time between a tornado warning and a hit, if it actually happens, is 13.5 minutes)

3. Progressives like to advocate year round school years. Do you realize how much more dangerous that makes a potential tornado strike while kids are in school?

You are right on this, liberal CEO's care about others, the rest don't give a shit.

You exempt politicians and bureaucrats by implication. The very notion that people in general are too heartless to help one another that we need government (filled with people) to step in and fill the compassion void.

Your attitude defies anything resembling logic.

Let me guess, I'll also bet you exempt yourself from the callousness you so cavalierly project upon people you don't even know, don't you?

That's the GOP way, screw the kids, the rich need it more! :cuckoo:

A plan to put shelters in schools after seven children died in 2013 from a series of devastating tornadoes has been scrapped because Republican leaders are pushing for corporate tax cuts instead.

The Associated Press reported on Monday that Gov. Mary Fallin (R) and other lawmakers have called to eliminate a so-called franchise tax that forces corporations to pay $1.25 for every $1,000 invested in the state.

The tax had been temporarily suspended in 2010, but Democratic state Rep. Joe Dorman had called on using the $40 million annual revenue it would generate to fund the tornado shelters.

Do you ever tire of lying your slimy commie ass off. You absolutely CAN NOT slash funds from a program that has not been adopted. The legislature has not passed it, the voters have not considered it in a referendum, so take you lying assed propaganda and shove it. And if you keep this shit up, I'll really tell ya what I think.

How about you get taxed an extra $10.00 a week for the shelters? Not that much, it's for the kids right? If you don't want to pay it, your for the death of kids by black dumb asses suggestion.

Shut up you terrorist piece of shit. Why do you hate kids and support such an evil party that would rather bankroll their corporate cronies than make sure children are safe?

You are absoutly disgusting,..

Locals control schools. Any local school board can put a bond up for vote, even those controlled by democrats.

Any idea what the average warning time from tornado warning to when the twister hits?

Using the death of children to make political hay is beneath most people. Apparently not that of the OP.

Republicans only care about a fetus. They lose interest shortly after birth.

Quite being dishonest. School tornado deaths are a small percent of the total death of children by these incredible storms.

You may like to use this to make you feel better, but what do you say for not supporting the idea that Soros isn't funding storm shelters in house trailers?

Hater!
