You can only lower the standards so much.
Chicago PD Lowers Hiring Standards to Fill its Ranks - The Crime Report
The goal was to open the pool of applicants to people who have work experience but were not able to attend college to obtain the 60 credit hours required for the job.thecrimereport.org
In an effort to tackle staffing shortages, the Chicago Police Department is lowering hiring standards for new recruits by dropping the college credit requirement for some candidates who have two years of military or peace officer experience, or three years in corrections, social services, health care, trades, or education, reports CNN. At least two other big-city police departments, in Philadelphia and New Orleans, have made similar moves in recent years and New York City Mayor Eric Adams applauded Chicago’s recruitment practices, and hinted at plans to duplicate them, after a trip to the city to meet with Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
That is the goal of the defund the police movement....drive out normal people from the ranks, then restock the police with democrat thugs, who will put obeying the party leadership over enforcing the law and protecting citizens.....
YOu and Racist Paul need to exchange conspiracy theories some time.
Here's the thing, the old boy network in the CPD isn't working... they do need to attract a better class of cop, but you don't get there by lowering standards, you raise them and offer more money.
Depends on the training, so is it your position that teacher's have only one skill set in life ? Best not go tell that to the teacher's (women and men), fighting the Russians in Ukraine then. You’re arguing that teachers can do the job better than police. No, I don’t think so.
It’s my position that teachers aren’t as good as police at handling police duties.Depends on the training, so is it your position that teacher's have only one skill set in life ? Best not go tell that to the teacher's (women and men), fighting the Russians in Ukraine then.
Yes, we've all seen the police solution. You think the cops will get the drop on the shooter before the teacher can. No, I don't think so.You’re arguing that teachers can do the job better than police. No, I don’t think so.
The democrat party controls the CPD from top to bottom....the police commissioner, the mayor, the States Attorney are all black, you doofus...have been for a long time....and the democrats have controlled that city since 1931.....
You don't get real cops by lowering standards, but you do get politically loyal cops by lowering standards....that is how they intend to work the police now...democrats first, cops second...
My post still stands. It’s my position that teachers aren’t as good as police at handling police duties.
Whatever you need to tell yourself. My post still stands.
It’s my position that teachers aren’t as good as police at handling police duties.
Dennis Butler, a 37-year-old with an extensive criminal history, was killed after he targeted a group of around 40 people attending a birthday party.
Police spokesman Tony Hazelett said the woman’s quick reaction saved lives and may have prevented a mass shooting.
It comes amid a national debate over guns after a school shooting in Texas.
Butler had driven by the area earlier on Wednesday evening when he was warned to slow down because children were playing.
He returned armed with an AR-15-type rifle and opened fire from his vehicle on the birthday-graduation party outside the apartment complex in the city.
Mr Hazelett told a news conference that the woman who fired back did not have any law enforcement background. She has not been identified.
“She’s just a member of the community who was carrying her weapon lawfully,” he said. “And instead of running from the threat she engaged with the threat and saved several lives.”
The woman remained at the scene after the shooting, and is co-operating with investigators.
They aren't handling police duties....they are a last line of defense, and a very effective deterrent by the mere possibility that they will be armed.
These killers target gun free zones.... when a school states that they have some armed teachers and support staff, a potential killer will not know who or where the armed staff members are....and they will avoid the school.....and if a killer does target the school, there will be armed people at the scene long before the police arrive and will be in the building if the police do nothing..
Most mass shooters don't care if they get killed or not... so a few staff with guns they don't know how to use doesn't mean much.
Wrong...you do not know what you are talking about....
They don't want a gun fight, they want to murder people without being stopped......so when they encounter someone who has a gun they surrender, kill themselves, or run away....
Most of them plan their attacks 6 months to two years in advance, and in case after case, they commit suicide, runaway or surrender when they are confronted...and the sooner you confront them with a gun, the sooner they stop shooting innocent people and go to one of those 3 options...
You don't know what you are talking about.....
They would be handling police duties of taking down an active shooter. We can’t even get the police to do that effectively. They aren't handling police duties....they are a last line of defense, and a very effective deterrent by the mere possibility that they will be armed.
List them! I want to go over them with you.We have 600 mass shootings a year... clearly they aren't intimidated.

Additionally, Texas already allows teachers to be armed. Didn’t stop this incident.
