Kirk Moore, the principal at Pauls Valley High School in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, was reportedly shot in the leg as he charged the gunman.

The gunman was a former student, 20-year-old Victor Hawkins.

The sad part of this (aside from the potential horror that could have happened), is that many states don't have the death penalty and the school shooters that don't shoot themselves or are killed by law enforcement, simply drop their guns and surrender when approached, being the cowards they are.
Frequently on the investigations on these people, they are found to have researched what the penalty for their crime would be and, in the ones where they don't have the death penalty, the killers simply surrender, wanting to have had a high body count.
For school shootings, it should be declared an act of terror and automatically become a federal case with the death penalty and no plea bargains.
For school shooters, the execution method should be "flamethrower."

Victor Lee Hawkins, a 20-year-old former student of Pauls Valley High School, is the suspect in an attempted mass shooting that occurred on April 7, 2026. Hawkins entered the school with two semi-automatic pistols stolen from his father's closet with the intent to kill students, faculty, and himself, planning to replicate the Columbine attack.

During the incident, Hawkins attempted to fire at a student, but the weapon malfunctioned. He then pointed a gun at another student before Principal Kirk Moore tackled him; Moore was shot in the leg during the struggle but was later released from the hospital. Hawkins was arrested, charged with shooting with intent to kill, and is currently held on a $1 million bond.

He then pointed a gun at a female student, but it didn’t go off. He then went behind a vending machine to fix the malfunction, according to the affidavit.

After that, documents said he pointed the gun at a separate student and then discharged the gun. The student then put his hands up and asked Hawkins not to shoot him. Hawkins lowered his gun and told the student to leave.
