My first. So I googled like mad and asked the doc lots of questions. Not too worried about it since he said "you won't feel a thing. You will be in lalaland". His words..not mine. Which made me laugh and feel not so uptight.

It's still pretty horrible.

You can opt to have it done under anesthesia...

... my advice is to do it.

Your doctor lied. They told me the same thing, all three times. Each time I requested more anesthesia, and they would not give it to me. The good news is that, even wide awake, it is tolerable, but damned uncomfortable.

Be certain your insurance pays for it. Mine didn't and the bill came to close to $200 out of my pocket!

Oh, nothing at all to worry about the procedure. You won't even know it happened.

I had it done for the first time this year - after much angst, it was nothing. I was out like a light and remembered nada.

worst part was the prep (tasted like concentrated gaterade syrup)

I had it done too....in fact i need to make an appointment to go again and i'm dragging it out! :) Not because of the procedure, but because of the crap you have to drink the night before!! I couldn't get all the way through it, I think I drank a little over half of it. I could not get it all down!!

I'm to drink half the night before, starting at 6pm, and I can sip water or juice along with it to help get it down he said. Next morning, I have to drink the other half and have it all gone within 4 hours of the surgery time.

Try cleansing your palate with a beer every hour or so and it goes down easier.

It was hard, ick.

I was glad I did it though. I had been fearing it so much, I procrastinated 3 years until finally I said enough. They actually found a small polyp of the type that could become cancerous if left alone. So, I need to get it done in 3 years again since the risk factor is slightly higher for more. I was damn glad I went, it felt like a wake-up call.

Yeah have them put you out. The drugs are great- better than they used to be.
You wake up feeling like you've had the best night's sleep in your life. Rarin' to go.

The whole clean-out prep is a blast (literally) :D

The recovery room is a 'gas' as well!

Yeah, they're not a big deal. Have fun and be well!

If you "have fun" someone gave you the wrong name of the procedure.

It's a real pain in the ass when you wake up from the trip the lalaland.

15th post
Well, I am not here to judge you on the sorts of things you find "fun" in this regard.

The visit was great, to meet the doctor. The procedure itself? I will let you know Wednesday.

I always get what my docs like to call the 'twilight cocktail'...it's a mix of sedatives and pain killers.
It's like being in a blackout from drinking way too much...without the hangover..
The procedure itself isn't that bad...it's the 1 to 3 day prep that is the hardest...make sure you don't leave the house during the prep process, Gracie...if you do leave, take some toilet paper with you. :D
