I had radical surgery to remove a malignant lesion (colon cancer) in '97, so I have a colonoscopy every July.My first. So I googled like mad and asked the doc lots of questions. Not too worried about it since he said "you won't feel a thing. You will be in lalaland". His words..not mine. Which made me laugh and feel not so uptight.
The procedure itself is nothing, provided you go under general anesthetic (which I recommend you insist on). The only thing you will feel is the pinch of the IV needle -- then you wake up and it's over.
The bad part is the prep. On the day before the procedure I must eat nothing and drink a full liter of Gator-Ade with 8 oz. of Mira-Lax dissolved in it. This is a powerful laxative, so be sure to remain in close proximity to a toilet after drinking it.
