The time of year that students have heard decisions about their college applications (for those who applied). A lot of my former students (who mainstreamed one or two years ago) stopping by my classroom to tell me about their acceptances and scholarships and such. It's great to see students who not so long ago were still working on some of the basics of English pleased and proud of themselves as they tell me what schools have accepted them. Two of my former students were accepted to BC with full two year scholarships. A lot of students are starting at a local community college with plans to transfer to a four-year school after two years. It's tough to keep students focused on school work this time of year, but it's rewarding to join in celebrating their successes.
