Well, first, let's get real. Mamdani can't raise state income taxes. The NY Legislature would have to do that. He could raise property taxes on the wealthy, but that would just mean they'd abandon their pricy NYC properties. No one is going to walk away from a million-dollar mansion or penthouse over a 4% property tax increase.

Now, I'm actually a tad horrified by the rise of the Sanders/AOC/Mamdani wing of the party, but frankly, given how extreme the GOP has become, we shouldn't be surprised.

You can redefine "independent" all you want. I am talking about people who are registered as independent which is how we group them in surveys. They are the only voters who really matter. 90-95% of registered party voters vote for their party. Independents and party turnout are all that matter.
