we get more or less decent professors by the time you're somewhere in graduate school
younger kids get progressively dumber and dumber teachers until at some point somewhere in kindergarten the teachers are on the same level of intelligence as the janitors
now i know you think that makes perfect sense - that's because you are idiots
but in fact it makes no sense.
in college you barely need any guidance. you can think for yourself. all you need is your textbooks and amphetamines. also by the time you're in graduate school your life is already headed in a certain direction - your professor won't convince you to switch from biology to philosophy for example - at least that is not likely.
but when you are 5 or 10 years old - that's when you are completely at the mercy of the advice you will receive. and the rest of your life will shape depending on what was put into your head in those years. that's why children of engineers become engineers, children of actors become actors and children of politicians become politicians.
by the time you get to college it is TOO LATE. you already are who you are.
children from the youngest age ( like 3 ) must be around only highly intelligent adults if they are to have any chance to ever reach their full potential.
