One Reason for School Shootings: Three Letters - MDR

In this idiot's world, all teachers must be big strong men, or exceptionally strong women, to teach.

He doesn't see a problem in this. It's not the behavior or the lack of consequences; we just need bigger teachers who will take actual physical abuse on the job.
Correct.

I taught grades three through five when I first started teaching. I had to restrain kids maybe five or six times a year. My wife taught severe kids in K-12 and had injuries such as broken nose, dislocaated shoulder and numerous bites - all with elementary kids.

When I got to junior high, most of that stopped except in the severe classes. In high school, they just let the SRO handle any physical aggression by students. That's where Uncle Charlie teaches, so he has no idea what he's talking about.

Hey, Unkotare I know a teacher's aide who saw a third grade kid pick up an eight foot two by four that was a balance beam in the motor lab and swing it level at her teacher who was pregnant. She blocked the board in fear for the unborn child and sustained an injury.

What should she have done? Just let the kid take his swing at the swollen belly of the teacher and chalk it up to an unlicensed abortion?

In my high school, the teacher in the classroom next to mine is a small woman. The one next to her as well. They both know that they only need to say the word and me (and if necessary another large male across the hall) and we would be there in a second. So do their students. They know because I have told them very clearly. They know that the other teacher is about 6'7". They also know I'm a wrestling coach. We are not scared of children. People scared of children shouldn't work with them.

You've never worked with younger grades, so you have no idea what you're talking about.

It's not about being scared of them, it's about not wanting to be injured.

Answer this question, or you have no credibility:

Should the pregnant teacher have said, "let him swing it at me, I ain't afraid of a child?"

wow, i had no idea the educational profession was such a hazardous venture...... ~S~

Sad, but true.

What question?
For the third time:

Hey, Unkotare I know a teacher's aide who saw a third grade kid pick up an eight foot two by four that was a balance beam in the motor lab and swing it level at her teacher who was pregnant. The aide blocked the board in fear for the teacher and her unborn child and sustained an injury.

You said she blocked the board. What is the question? If they were scared of 3rd graders, they should have found different jobs.

Adults so small, weak, and fearful that they cannot be around very young children should not work with them.

I'm asking what YOU think she should have done, not what she did do.

But, if you're scared to answer, I understand.

I answered at least 3 times. Are you still confused?
Same thing you did with the question about your definition of "Anchor baby." refuse to answer and then say you already answered.

I'm particularly offended that a teacher is so intellecually dishonest. But I guess I have to face the fact that integrity is no longer important to a significant number of members of my beloved profession.

Is this you, Uncle Charley?

Really? Don't you teach high school?

If you were in an elementary class, what would you do that would not be ridiculously weak and cowardly when a fifth grader with "emotional disturbance starts cursing, and throwing objects from your shelves onto the floor, at classmates, and at you?
I would throw them out of the school entirely. Without delay.

You're not a teacher and we all know it, I know it, and that's why you're mad at me and taking personal pot shots. Look, you were on this mb all hours of the day time, and we all saw it. Some "teacher"

A couple of years ago I caught him on this mb at all hours of the day, making and answering posts. I called him out on it and he's been blistered about it ever since. If he is a "teacher", let me tell you, his job is worlds and worlds easier than mine.
