Correct. In this idiot's world, all teachers must be big strong men, or exceptionally strong women, to teach.
He doesn't see a problem in this. It's not the behavior or the lack of consequences; we just need bigger teachers who will take actual physical abuse on the job.
I taught grades three through five when I first started teaching. I had to restrain kids maybe five or six times a year. My wife taught severe kids in K-12 and had injuries such as broken nose, dislocaated shoulder and numerous bites - all with elementary kids.
When I got to junior high, most of that stopped except in the severe classes. In high school, they just let the SRO handle any physical aggression by students. That's where Uncle Charlie teaches, so he has no idea what he's talking about.
Hey, Unkotare I know a teacher's aide who saw a third grade kid pick up an eight foot two by four that was a balance beam in the motor lab and swing it level at her teacher who was pregnant. She blocked the board in fear for the unborn child and sustained an injury.
What should she have done? Just let the kid take his swing at the swollen belly of the teacher and chalk it up to an unlicensed abortion?
