While it was Rahman Emmanuel who said never let a crisis go to waste, it might be time for conservatives and republicans to think about what a window of opportunity has been created to remake the Republican Party.

We are living in a crucible right now from which history will be made. Events and technology seem to be moving at light speed. Those who don't consider the big picture or grasp the magnitude of change occurring under our noses will be left on the sidelines. The challenge for right leaning people is how to adapt our principles to the new age. This is not a fools errand as the left would have one believe but an intellectual exercise filled with promise. Conservatives will need to incorporate features of libertarianism, grass roots, populism, individual capitalism, and standardized justice into an ideology that meshes with present day individualism and Internet freedom.

Let's r view what is not working. The establishment. Old party pols, career politicians, and behind the scenes moneybags as well as mammoth global corporations have disenfranchised the republican voters. And let's just get it out there, too many republican candidates drone on with the same political drivel about abortion, those nasty democrats, smaller govt, the Washington cartel, et al without coming up with solution oriented approaches or even worse, by going to Washington and perpetuating the scam. This election cycle has revealed voter anger as it has never been seen in my lifetime, which is why we are poised at a crossroads. All people want problems solved, but the republican roadmap is nonexistent. There is no longer a functioning framework through which to run pr sent day problems and come out with signature solutions. Much of this is because the republican team is made up do second tier brains, much is because of laziness or being comfortably numb, and a whole lot of it is because politicians of both parties have put their personal needs over those of the country. The status quo is dying.

Young people heck all people can see through these charades. Many respond with apathy and indifference, others like most at usmb find forums to vent their anger and frustrations. But the democrats flirtation with socialism has hit a brick wall, they are stuck with it and really have no where to go. Democrats now have focused on concentrating power instead of serving the people. In an ironic twist, this election cycle is positioning the democrats as the party of big money, big business, and big government while the republicans are the party of populism. This is a trend that needs to be capitalized on.

What to do. First it is time to redefine your principles. Capitalism is not hedge funds and puts. Capitalism is small business and local outsourcing. Anyone or thing that can singlehandedly bring down the us economy needs to be prohibitively taxed. Money and labor should be taxed at the same rates. Flat tax or massively simplify the tax system. Anything business activity that does not create jobs in proportion to the money it generates should be heavily taxed. The minimum wage should be 10 an hour and neither employee or employer have to pay any taxes on it.

Create a 10,000 dollar college course that instantly prepares students for a job, Texas is trying this. Bring back apprentice programs. Stop trying to use college to indoctrinate people and give them a skill. Punish institutions who raise tuition more than the cola. Refuse student loans to colleges that are exorbitantly expensive.

Conservatives have to believe in equal justice for all. Put an end to the cronyism of our two tiered justice system. Make justice fair regardless of class, race, or money. What a great issue for this election.

Make all illegals register and give them a work permit. No govt freebies. If they want to become citizens, we already have a process for that. Give any person who has served honorably in the service an American citizenship. I can't believe this is not already a policy.

become more libertarian on individual behavior but remind the country that you are free to follow whatever lifestyle you want but you are not free to impose that lifestyle on your neighbors. Stop all third term abortions short of endangering the mother and let the rest ride. Offer universal free birth control for persons 14 and older but include parental notification with minors.

Doctor and patient centric health care. Universal free physicals yearly. Get rid of lawyers. Across state insurance. Sliding scale for healthy people. adopt the Internet as a health tool.

I will be adding more suggestions but they will all have to follow these conservative principles. Preserve Liberty, reduce govt involvement in our lives, promote individualism, promote achievement over grievance, enhance the countries security, promote country over ideology, achieve results, provide universal opportunity. Many of these ideas might seem scattergun but I am sure I will be assisted by those much wiser than myself, but I repeat the original theme. We can grab the horns of the dilemma and bulldog it down or we can grab thin air. Seize the moment and make what you believe in better. The time is upon us.

I mostly don't care what you want to contribute but play nice. No insults, no name calling, no ad hominem attacks. If you don't like some points feel free to propose your own, but let's keep it in the context of the Republican Party makeover. Thanks

Honestly, I don't think I would sign up for that political party either. Your ideas are not my brand of conservatism.

Well since I have no debaters or debatees, I guess I will have to debate myself. That is a win win situation, right. So let me continue with the new republican play book.

One of the hallmarks of the new republicanism is to demand solution and action oriented policies. The largest republican negative of the last eight years is that they don't have a plan. No plan to replace obamacare, no plan to block the Iran deal, no immigration plan, no nothing. You know when you are supposed to turn in a turn paper and you don't you get an F, and that is just what voters have given the gop. The reason Paul Ryan is in such low esteem is because he gets nothing done. What has he done since he was made speaker? Nada. He even actually says his planning things for 2017, when he may not even be in office.

Why is this important? Because achievement and effectiveness is important if you want to make a statement to voters as well as support your principles. Someone like George Will is an erudite, well read, polished raconteur of political history. I like George but he is totally irrelevant to any accomplishment. He is a poster child for the neutered establishment living in their taxpayer funded ivory towers. The new republicanism will take the min wage and tailor it to free market forces in the first hundred days. The new republicanism will take immigration and pass it in the first hundred days. The solutions will be aggressive and laser focused. As should have been done after the 2010 and 2014 elections, the actions will be fast paced and impactful. Will everything proposed sail through, of course not, but the public will see that republicans have arrows in their quiver working for the people. To extend the metaphor, we are going to go from slow moving massive armies to quick strike forces.

Why is a change in operational procedures critical to a new republicanism? Because he history of the last eight years is that critics of Obama have been right in their assessments of obamas policies but Obama has been able to,institute them anyway, due to a feckless and fearful bunch of pols. Let's review. Obamacare was predicted to fail and implode on itself financially. It has. But no leverage or contingency policy was offered to stop it. The Iranian deal was predicted to be a disaster, it is, but no plan was hatched to straight jacket the president. And as an aside to congressional actions repubs have claimed for years that the press lies and is severely slanted left. As usual the right is right as the Facebook and Ben Rhodes stories illustrate. But it doesn't do any good to be right after the fact, especially if there was no fight put up. The policies are in place and that is all liberals, care, about. So you have to engage at the time of battle. If you believe in what you say, and voters can smell a fake, republicans have to take some cuts and bruises if they are going into a battle, but you must engage as the enemy is trying to conquer territory not after that territory has been overrun. Republicans need points on the scoreboard and a team that can do that, something George Will might say. New blood, new energy, new strategies.

I don't want a party with a plan so much as I want a party with principles and the will to adhere to Constitutional limitations.

For instance, I don't WANT the central government doing ANYTHING about healthcare except to enforce RICO and anti-trust laws. Health insurance, pharmaceutical companies, and other health related entities as well as state officials should not be able to collaborate at will to rig the system and keep prices as high as possible for their own benefit. Free market principles should be the rule with competition encouraged so that all would be interested in providing the best possible product at the most attractive price.

THAT is what I want our government to do. Not order and manage and dictate and/or provide healthcare.

I don't WANT the central government doing ANYTHING about education other than provide data gathering and distributing services. The Department of Education could be a single office with a modest work force that collects information on admission requirements and curriculum from various colleges to distribute to those who need this information such as high schools and others who would counsel students on how to prepare.

The office could also collect information on curriculum, graduation rates, performance on standardized tests, etc. from all school systems willing to participate and comple this information into a data base available to educators so they could see how their school stacks up against all others. This would also be of value to parents choosing the school they want their child to attend.

I want a government that structures the tax code for maximum efficiency and effectiveness for a strong, vibrant economy for the benefit of the people and not as a way to funnel as much money as possible to the government to redistribute.

I want a government that keep us safe, that protects our borders, our chosen way of life, and that manages a mutually beneficial trade policy and other international agreements.

No plan. Just efficiency and effectiveness.

Conservative or republican with conservative politics. Also cool.
