I did get a new car for Christmas way back in 1985
My parents always worked hard in treating my sister and I the same. No favorites [but we all know it could only be the first born of the first born - saint Turbofish]. I had purchased a brand new car on my own a year before back in the days when a young adult could afford one. A Pontiac T-1000 [Chevette clone] that cost brand new a whole $5K. But my sister had a piece of crap that was most likely couldn't travel the 200 miles back and forth to college. So, we came home from a Christmas trip to find two new vehicles. A something for her [I can't remember what she had] and an Escort GT Turbo for me. Many tickets in that car.
I found a picture on the internet that was even in the same color of my Christmas gift.
I still have the personalized tag that was on the car and now mounted on my office wall. Fun story with that as well. All of my fathers employees got together and bought my dad this tag. When he traded in his vehicle for a lease vehicle, he wasn't able to take the tag with him so he transferred it to me.
That 1984 Pontiac T-1000 was the first new car that I bought. I had always purchased cars used including my first one, a 1975 Ford Pinto. The Escort was gifted to me. The second new car that I bought was just back in June of this year just before my birthday so I'll call it a birthday gift from me
But from the used car world [I work in IT for a used car company with 150+ locations in 12 states], sales in late Nov, throughout Dec are usually fairly low. Our high sales period starts at the end of Jan up until April - based around tax returns.
