Judges and prosecutors are facing repeated threats of violence as they handle cases related to Trump, interviews and documents reveal. The wave of intimidation follows the ex-president’s attacks on judges as corrupt and biased – and some worry it threatens America’s long tradition of judicial independence.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has been threatened by angry criminals. Drug cartels. Even al Qaeda.

But nothing, Lamberth says, prepared him for the wave of harassment after he began hearing cases against supporters of former President Donald Trump who attacked the U.S. Capitol in a bid to overturn the 2020 election.

Right-wing websites painted Lamberth, appointed to the bench by Republican President Ronald Reagan, as part of a “deep state” conspiracy to destroy Trump and his followers. Calls for his execution cropped up on Trump-friendly websites. “Traitors get ropes,” one wrote. After he issued a prison sentence to a 69-year-old Idaho woman who pleaded guilty to joining the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, his chambers’ voicemail filled with death threats. One man found Lamberth’s home phone number and called repeatedly with graphic vows to murder him.

“I could not believe how many death threats I got,” Lamberth told Reuters, revealing the calls to his home for the first time.

When it gets to the point that you are denying objective reality you might want to ask yourself if you've taken things too far.

Federal officials say 20 have been charged for threatening election workers

PHOENIX — Justice Department officials said reports of widespread threats against officials running the 2020 and 2022 elections have resulted in charges against roughly 20 people, with more than a half dozen receiving sentences between one and 3½ years.

But the federal officials said at a news conference in Arizona on Monday that it remains to be seen if the stiff sentences will serve as an effective deterrent to would-be-criminals in future election cycles.

“Let these cases be a lesson not to take or attempt to take the rule of law into one’s own hands,” said U.S. Attorney Gary Restaino, Arizona’s top federal prosecutor.

When Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election and falsely claimed that Joe Biden wasn’t the true winner because of widespread voter fraud, election workers across the country — from rank-and-file employees who helped process ballots to top state officials who certified or defended the results — came under attack. In June 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland launched the Election Threats Task Force to combat violent threats facing election workers.

Federal Judge Warns Of A Jan. 6 Repeat In The 2024 Election

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., warned Thursday that Donald Trump could provoke a Jan. 6-style attack with another call to arms in response to the 2024 election.

U.S. District Judge Rudy Contreras made his comments from the bench during the sentencing of a Jan. 6 rioter. Noting that Trump and his allies had “spurred” the attack, the judge expressed concern that the defendant before him would respond to a similar “call” in the future.

“It doesn’t take much imagination to imagine a similar call coming out in the coming months,” Contreras said.

This is, by my count, at least the third federal judge sitting in DC who has publicly warned of the threat we still face right now – not just the retrospective assigning of blame for what happened in the 2020 election, but actively and frantically sending out alerts that we may face more political violence ahead.

I think it's a mistake to think of a threat in terms of a repeat of the 1/6 riot Trump inspired. I'm sure Mike Johnson will have the Capital Police prepared this time (just kidding on two counts).

The more salient point is Trump maintains control over potentially violent followers who he has proven willing to unleash on any governmental body he sees fit. If not with actual violence, which have been less frequent, then with threats of it.

The reflexive reaction of Trump's defenders no doubt displaying, without realizing it, how the violence associated with Trumpery has been normalized.

Do you recall a time in US history when there were so many threats made against members of the judicial/election systems?

Public Officials Face Surge of Threats Ahead of 2024 Election

A deluge of violent messages: How a surge in threats to public officials could disrupt American democracy

Do you think it's a coincidence this is happening during the era of Trumpery?

Why hasn't Dear Leader universally condemned the threats being made in the strongest terms?

For extremism researchers, the shooting death this week of a Utah man who was alleged to have made violent threats against President Biden and other public officials highlights a concerning trend. For years, they have watched a steady escalation in violent political rhetoric that appears to be fueling acts of real-life violence.

On Wednesday, the FBI shot and killed Craig Robertson of Provo, Utah as they attempted to arrest him due to his alleged threats ahead of a visit to Utah by Biden. Federal charges against the 75-year-old laid out a history of violent social media posts, not just about the president, but also a range of Democratic politicians and officials, including New York State Attorney General Letitia James, Vice President Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Robertson has been on the FBI's radar since March, based on a tip from a social media platform, reportedly Truth Social, the company backed by former President Donald Trump. He allegedly posted direct language about his dream to "eradicate" Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, before Bragg's office indicted Trump.

How much evidence must be posted before The Following acknowledges Trumpery has ushered in a wave of violence and violent threats on a scale never seen before?

Hum, let me think

When I was just a youngster in 1776 the British government officials were not very popular

And I remember hippy progressives during the Vietnam War blowing up post offices

But the Deep State banana republic was not nearly as offensive then as it is today

So you tell me

That was as clumsy and transparent as it gets when it comes to trying to deflect while not answering the question. You are dismissed.

Trump has a long history of violent rhetoric. He must think it's manly.
violent rhetoric? you can't and won't provide one link with him spouting violent rhetoric. There is zero links with it. Your charm is noted.

If you read past, A federal judge in Washington, D.C., then you are consuming bullshit.
He's telling the world he's not impartial to people who don't believe what he believes. Your chances in court are slim to known to win if you voted for trump.

Try to focus on my questions.

"Do you recall a time in US history when there were so many threats made against members of the judicial/election systems?"
